Title: Will an NVQ soon be required in England?
Post by: Pole 2 Pole on September 23, 2009, 05:09:34 pm
Speaking to a guy today(seemed totally genuine) Anyways his Brother in law works for some Gov agency. Anyway, he swears blind that in about 18 months the Government will make it "law" that all window cleaners go on a 2 day NVQ course(luckily paid for by the Gov, as it would normally cost about 600) Has anyone else heard of this or know anything about this?  :-\

I hope it does become law to have one, stop all the people starting and stopping just think it should take a few months instead of days

Not looking for a fight lads, but go down the boozer, then tell your mates that you are doing an NVQ in window cleaning. Watch their reaction ;D I see what you mean about it stopping the beer money crew, but who would enforce it?

it will always end up as a waste of time if nobody is going to enforce it thats the real problem. Although i would be all for it..

See what the Scotish blokes say about that mate. They can tell you about enforcement. They pay through the nose for a Licence and nothing much seems to stop the beer money crew up there. They still turn up by the van load and storm the streets. Not funny.

For a start the goverment don't even know who cleans windows and who doesn't. So who are they going to force onto an NVQ course?
Not me, i'm buggered if I'm going to give up what three days wages?
Who could possibly need an NVQ for residential windowcleaning work?
The only ones who want it at the moment are the commercial cleaners or the ones who think they are business experts.

That's only one then.

No chance of the government shelling out £600 for every window cleaner to get an NVQ. Fair to say they waste money on all sorts of ridiculous schemes but even this is too much for them.

20 years ago if you said we would hand over all our powers to EU you would have said will never happen  ;)
Things change sometimes for good some times for bad but change they do.

lost a few quid to othe rclenaing companies up here in scotland who ar enot licensed. Been onto the police and stuck them in with van details etc. When you start losing a few hundred quid to these people then it is time to sit up n take  action.

Karygate and others, myself and my employees 1 full time and 1 part time are currently taking NVQ level 2, it is not a 2 or 3 day course, it is 1 hour per fortnight spread over a few months, location is wherever I wish it to be, it is on the job and the assessor comes to us.
And the best bit!.........It's free, paid for by the government, totally.

Dear Prime minister Tarquin ( or other tory type name )

Please accept my congratulations on winning the election, just a point about that, it was not that people wanted you in ( because they dont, they remember when the evil witch maggie was in power ) it was just they for some reason or other ( some blame labour for the world recession  ::) aye, how can they be to blame, i dont know either ), they had enough of labour

i would be happy to go on a NVQ course in window cleaning, forget all the other qualifications i have, they do not matter. The only thing i insist on is :

1. Nice coffee ( non of that horrid cheap stuff )
2. Chocolate hob-nobs ( now at a push i will accept normal hob-nobs )
3. padded chairs ( i dont want plastic hard chairs that riff-raff sit on )

i look forward to my course and watching how you ruin the country again, i guess as a small business owner and a home owner, i will be looked after by your government as you have allways done. Please continue to shaft and destroy the working class, just as you did so well when the evil witch was last in power, you know, make it hard for this country to produce anything, if the working man does not agree, just starve them like you did those miners who only wanted to earn a living and sustain family and community ways

toodles for now
matt

P.S

can we have a state holiday when the evil witch dies

P.P.S

i will need a day off to recover from my hangover after the party

sorry i was not ridiculing the idea of a nvq in any profession , just the thought of making it conpulsory.
