a mate of mine is not working this week and just recieved his new toy and dropped it off with me to try out what a great guy cant wait to have a play tomorrow very impressed with the rigidity im used to my xtel

Which xtel do you have, is it the 17ft one by any chance? If so what is the difference in height with the poles closed slx and xtel. Looking to get one for the mrs but if the closed length is longer it won't work out.

gf i must say i am very impressed it is so light to work with and rigid and i thought the brush was very good aswell
i knocked an hour off my working day yesterday just seemed to work quicker with a lot less fatigue

I am very suprised you can knock 1 hour off your day just by using an 18ft slx instead of a 17ft xtel.
I find the 17ft xtel a nice pole to use.
Have not tried an slx but am suprised people think there could be so much advantage at that height.

not much difference between harris pole and 18ft slx in terms of weight and user friendliness.
slx range come into there own above poles of say 24ft reach.

mind you dont break the clamps there crap,nice pole but the clamps spoil it.

For me I can see how the slx will save possibly an hour on a long day. The fact that when your doing upstairs windows it's as easy as doing downstairs because there is no flex is amazing, that on it's own can speed you up no end.
I think the harris pole is fantastic for the price, I have one for trad stuff and it's brill possibly better than an xtel, but the slx is in a different league. The price is comparatively high but if you could even save only 1/2 hour a day, the pole would have paid for itself with in the month, presuming you have the work.

what about an 18ft-22ft clampless SLX. i'd have one then. (i'd pay silly money) it would be as fast as my harris.

I amwaiting for deleivery of an 18' and 35' slx.I have used lots of poles over the years. This year my pole of choice as been the 17' x-tel,its light with superb clamps and with a superlight brush its great to use. On some estates i can be there for 3 days and I only use the 17' x-tel. I use it for 90% of my work.
The slx is double the price, so I will take a chance and see if its worth the extra cash. It is lighter and more rigid so it should make a difference,I do a 9 hour day and have had trouble with my arms and I suffer with carpal tunnel syndrome, So weight and rigidty make a huge difference to wear and tear on my ageing body.
I have a 28' x-tel hybrid which I love for its rigidty, Its a joy to use having used 24' universal fibreglass pole for years.I could have gone for a 22' slx.But it is heavier only slightly but its heavier and with an extra tube its wider so more strain on the wrists. But 18' for me does most of my work and untill I use it I wont know if its worth the extra cash for me.Neil
