Hi
I've been trying to find out the same thing, I've been on businesslink and they have info on there re payslips.  You can also buy software but I think this is only worth doing if you have a few members of staff as it's quite expensive.

Thanks Nat :)

We use an accountant for our payroll

they do all taxes Ni payslips etc, they even issue weekly holiday entitlements

they take the money from our bank and pay direct to the staff

shop around, ask your bank if they can recommend a good accountant

you might be pleasantly surprised how little it costs....offset this cost against the extra work you can do while not doing the wages and it can be a win win

we have at present 32 staff and pay them weekly, Tuesday morning we spend around an hour checking time sheets then e-mail wages to accountants, job done.

Payroll used to take two of us most of a day

good luck

Use a decent programme made for the job, we use Iris it costs about £200 per year with full support and has unlimited number use.  Easy as pie, to do a payroll run for 30 people takes about 1.5hrs.

Nice website

Did you start out with window cleaning

Ive just started taking on first lad part time

Will go full in january ive found theres lots of work out there if you knock etc and growing quite well

Your firm looks big, all them staff sound like a job on its own looking after doing paperwork etc, think i prefer the tools :)

I use Moneysofts payroll £49 per year

Its easy to use, allows online filing etc, prints all slips etc onto plain paper.

It was recommended by my accountant, its cheap, it works. Job done  ;D

Hi Sean

You definately make more money on the tools and have a soooo much less stressful time of things

But and its a but that suits some and not others, employing is far more hassle but can be so rewarding too.

Most employers may agree that 90% of their team be it 5 staff 500 staff or 5000 staff are great employees it is just that little minority that puts people off employing. Similar to the clients we all have again 90% are great to work with/for  they pay on time they appreciate how hard a task it is and they look to help not critisice and then there are the other ones.

Apart from helping others which I believe we should all try to do the reason I continue to employ is the same as when i started window cleaning. I was quite good and wanted to be a better w/c, i wanted to do bigger higher harder ...i like a challenge and I see employing as a challenge

The law is against you the staff are out for what they can get your clients want to pinch your good staff etc etc etc.................but do you know what drives me on ???? i want to win.

The Gov.uk website is a good source of employers advice and the job centre are good too but the thing that really helps me to employ is to understand the importance of the staff. They are not as important as the system.

I know I know I spent years in management being taught staff  this people that but it is not true

Don't believe me read it for yourself its called The E-Myth check it out online a very good w/c businessman and friend intriduced this to me and wow it makes things so clear

Good luck with the tools

ps got to go and write a letter to long term absent employee oh the joys the joys

yeh sounds good, i have got a part timer and have dabbled with the figures of employing, in fact was doing today, i plan on bagging a canvasser and building up to put a van on road besides me and my lad

HAve you employed on residential / commercial window cleaning, what did you find were the pitfalls and difficulties, and do you have any tips

Most employers i speak to at minute seem to hate employing :o
