I've had three calls in the last ten minutes from sales reps at Yell.com
Eight calls in the last two days :'(
I try to not go bananas at them as they are only doing there job but that poor sod who called me last got it tight!

a good one that works for me is.....
"you've come through on a withheld number, can you ring back so your number comes up on my phone" most say yes and don't call back, some say they can't in which i say "well i'm sorry but our policy is not to talk to withheld numbers unless they want carpets cleaned, thanks byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" ;D

Mr West, You are Terrible!
Anyway one called me yesterday, I was going to o on yell.com anyway so she caught me at a good time. Lucky it was yell.com and not the yellow pages. That's a waste of good forestry.
I had a discount to six weeks free (so they say) advertising, not bad i was already prepared to pay the money.

Yellow pages has just come out in my parents area (Wakefield), This years edition was 1/3 thickness of last years.
Yell.com is a complete waste of money also, forget it.

Got to agree and wonder how long till they put y pages out of its misery ::)
Yell prob is as bad as people will just use google search..

If you want to have yell not to phone you.
Email them with your details and request they stop all communication to you, and to remove your details from their database.
By law they are required to do this.
They are only phoning you, as you have given permission to contact you about their offers eyc somewhere in the past..

yell & yell.com...........the sherriff of nottingham was more honest than them ..........robbing B........

From my own experience Yell.com and yellow pages have paid for themselves already this year! i am in the NCCA ad and have the free listing £500 for yel.com and yellow pages and regular calls if that stops then i will go elsewhere but not at the moment

Agreed, put your money into search engine optimization and buying gifts for real estate offices.

For annoying and or withheld numbers that ask to speak to the owner or person in charge of advertising etc... I just ask who is speaking, then say exactly this - "do you need any carpets cleaning? NO?!? goodbye then"
simple as that
always worked for me.

i tell every single one of them to f*** off, every single one, even the firemans or police mans monthly newsletter advertising crap, and still they call me! :(
-
Got a meeting with them next week to talk about my next years ads ! This is the 5th different rep i have had in the 4 yrs i have been using them !
Going to be scaling down my adds with them next year, still getting the occasional job from the book, but way down on previous years.
Net is doing ok,but finding more work is coming from recomendations now
