Title: Re - Your ideas for the wording on my van.
Post by: kinder clean on September 21, 2009, 06:50:34 pm
I'm getting the van graphics re done this week ( should have been done on Friday, don't ask )

Anyway, every time I look at the wording I change my mind again.  ;D

What do you think of the following bullet points for the rear of the van :

Rapid Drying Times

Non Franchise Family Business

Premium Child & Pet Friendly Products

Satisfaction Guaranteed

No Shrinkage Guaranteed ( I read somewhere never use the word "No" but I can't think of another way of wording it )

20 times more powerful than the old fashioned truck mount cleaners ! ( Kidding !!! calm down !! calm down  ;) I know its only 19 really )

Any good suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Paul

1) company name

2) carpet and upholstery cleaners with professional or speacialist next to it.

3) a good selling point, mine is rapid drying times

4) and possibly domestic and commercial.

5) a logo to accompany your name unless your name is your logo.

anymore than that is a waste of time in my eyes

less is more. ;)

I agree with Derek

Steve

PS: definately would not put "no shrinkage guaranteed."

Paul,

I always feel that the wording ," no shrinkage "  can sow a seed of doubt in some peoples minds, imho it is a negative, why do you need to stress this point you are trying to make?

Got to agree, keep it simple and to the point , I made the mistake of cramming info on mine , and in hinesight would not have done it, well next van will be different.
Its good to see that  your considering the options and not going for the first thing .

Eco Friendly products? Get straight to the point. A customer only sees it briefly at lights etc so has to know exactly what you do in a short space of time.

I got a client and when I asked her why did she choose me she said "you were the only one that said no shrinkage - I have had shrinkage in the past".

Van looks great, does what is say's on the van !!!
Don't like the superhero character though.  The rest is good, looks bright, modern & easy on the eye.

Paul,

Keep it simple & to the point, you need to win customers, not a writing competion.  Like Derek Say's, "Less is More"
Simples

Clinton,

Perhaps a caricature of you would be more personal.  You could be that superhero!!

Are you launching a pet food business ? I think you need some pictures relating to what you do, a wrap is a lot of money if it doesnt work.

Glad someone else has said that I just thought I'd missed something  ??? Looks like a zoo keepers van without the text? I would go for pictures showing carpet cleaning related pictures - I'd check the price too mike I was quoted £2k for a full wrap on a berlingo
Title: Re: Re - Your ideas for the wording on my van.
Post by: Mike Halliday on September 25, 2009, 07:31:02 am
carpet cleaning pictures, ohhh yea that's really interesting, that'll make people notice the van, I can just see it in texcos carpark........ a crowd of people around my van amazed by a picture of a carpet....BORING!!!

I can see why people won't understand why I'm doing this, when my last van had me waving with 6 fingers they said it was daft, but now how many vans have a picture of a waving man, when was the last time a picture of your van was on a school wall with a 'spot the mistake' competition

imagine my van at a school summer fate, on a 'find the animals'   stand..... little kids surrounding the van trying to find 40 different animals.  all the time the parents forced to look at henry Halliday -  carpet & upholstery cleaning

I'm not doing my van like  this for a laugh, this has come from a lot of research, but it will go over the head of most carpet cleaners as they tend to just follow what everyone else is doing.

For once, Mike and I are as one  :o

Its got to be a head turner..... driving along the high street and kids saying "mum, mum, look at that van with animals on".

Its thinking out of the box..... even the sideways print - different and effective.

if thats a £1000 or thereabouts you getting a good deal.... very good I would say.

Im coming round to understanding where you're coming from.... Is/was it Esso that had the Tiger in the ads ?

What's a tiger got to do with petrol? Sod all, but hey, it worked.....

I like the writing down the side too, it's very eye catching!!!!

Put a tiger in your tank ;D

Makes a good talking point with your van designs with clients and neighbours when you have something a little dif on your van :)

here's something to back up mikes theory and to prove all those doubters.

there are 2 vans on this thread that stand out from the crowd, 1) is towards the end of the thread and is a plumber sat on a bog, well funny but obviously, he's a plumber so it relates.

2) the one that stands out the most to me has nothing to do with window cleaning.

would i take a card? course i would,

would the animal make me think he's an idiot? not in the slightest.

excellent advertising that makes him stand out from the norm.

mike,
as in the words of the recent starskey and hutch movie, "do it" "do it"

anyway have a nosey at the thread and see if you can decide which van i'm on about!

It's gotta be the big red monkey - love it ! Mike you could do something similar to the card dispenser idea he's used exept with an elephants trunk.

I'm with mike, go for a picture that turns heads.

No, cos I'm booked up with oven cleaning at the moment and haven't had time. I really like the animal theme but I was thinking of having a battle field theme with cartoon character Suicide Bomber Dust Mites being obliterated. I really should stop drinking Mistral Carbonoff! ;D ;D ;D

Mike

I think the graphics are fantastic - but the words carpet and upholstery cleaning look quite small on the van picture, I presume they will stand out more in real life.

Having said that, you are very well established in your area, so presumably the company name, which is much bigger, will register more with the locals.

Steve

Steve the wording is a little smaller than I would have liked but I think the animals will draw attention so much they will still read my name and the  carpet & upholstery cleaning...... just because they will wonder who would have such ridiculous van ;)

plus I'm trying to really emphasises the Name 'HENRY'  as its how everyone knows me. to the people of Beverley I'm Henry the carpet cleaner

I couldn't imagine being so desperate for work I have to travel the length of the country to find it  ;D

but Simon we have different types of companies what I do wouldn't suit everyone, it will suit how I market my company. whats important to me is everyone in a 4 mile radius of my home constantly sees my van and remembers it.

I get more work than I can handle within 4 miles from home because I have a van like this.

you can't say this van will be easily forgotten!!

Wish I had taken a couple of pics now as the graphics posted on here dont really do it justice.
great stuff Mike.

ps.
I already thinking of some thing different for my next new van ;D got to admit thinking outside the box seems to work.

That should, hopefully, be another benefit of it - with a little heat they are relatively easy to remove so you are left with a van which hasn't been quite so battered about as it may have been.
