Title: Black mould on curtains
Post by: GlynE on September 21, 2009, 01:49:25 pm
Hi again
Can anyone suggest something for removing what looks like black mould/mildew stains out of curtain linings please? We are currently using CFR ECO 500, water & Eco-friendly pre-spray (Understand that no cleaning solutions should be used in ECO 500) - but is just not touching the marks at the moment. Would be grateful of any advice. For anyone who is using one, what are your thoughts on the ECO 500? Many thanks Glynis

You wont get rid of the mould marks, i would try some Prochem Clensan, but dont hold out any hopes, the damage is irreversabe

Some curtains I have in a caravan developed black mould marks and I tried just about everything, even tried throwing them through a washing machine, but all to no avail. I guess at a last resort you could try household bleach but there are numerous reasons why if you go down that route then you'll be on your own if anything goes wrong.

I have successfully used Miltons sterilizing fluid.

I know it's a swear word to some but, Mpower will remove mould and mildew
from curtains. This is all i use Mpower for now.

Thank you everyone for your kind help. We have tried MPower but to no avail, I think it may be because of how severe the mould is - it covers an area of about 18" high & is all along the length (96") of each curtain. It appears to have been there some time. Thank you again everyone. Best wishes Glynis

Just an update to let you know that the Milton sterilising fluid has worked really well & has removed around 98% of the mould marks - thank you Shaun.
Sorry Derek - No prize now I'm afraid, unfortunately it has to go to Shaun - But a BIG thank you to everyone for all your help.

Hi Guys

I'm pretty sure this is dilute chlorinated bleach so as the guys say be careful.

Cheers
