I have been asked to quote a few jobs by these people, and it looks promising.
Has anyone ever dealt with these people do they pay on time etc?
-
Cleaned the boots thru them a while back and got stung for £7k,
Whats the name of the person you are dealing with?
-
Oh, that's upsetting to hear.
Jodie S. is the persons name, and Jacky G. these are people without surnames!
-
jackie rings a bell,
they subbed them to a company who i subbed off which is very dodgy i know,
so it wasnt directly them who ripped me off.
Is it cleaning high st stores?
-
Oh well that's a bit more reassuring.
Yes it is for a national chain of stores.
Let's just say for now, more than 10 of them...
What would your advice be?
-
Is it homebase, boots or abbey?
Just mention any worries you have mate,
Id most prob give them a go direct for a month,
The problem is the stores I did were weekly so it doesnt take long to build up a fair amount being owed out.
-
obviously in your situation the middle man kept the cash ??
-
The middle woman yes mate,
Bad times
-
It's direct to them so I guess that helps.
I will keep a close eye on it, because it's not just me it affects obviously
I've never let anyone down for payment and I don't want to start now.
It's not Homebase, Abbey or Boots. I'd rather not say who for now.
it's true that the debt would build up quite quickly...but I think it's in their interest to keep up to date with payments or I would have to pull people off the work, which would make them look bad.
-
By the way, thanks Dean

So what happened to her?
Id probably end up doing something I'd regret over 7K
Im working on my plans for getting my £372 back from Vauxhalls dealership in Basingstoke over their bodged work they did on my van plus lost income whilst they buggered my van; all depends on what the branch manager says when he calls me tomorrow.
Already spoken to Watchdog about it, they seemed interested when I told them Id be leafletting the local Vauxhall garages customers telling them of my experiences with Vauxhall and leafletting the local supermarkets and multi-storey car-park.
Ive already done a test run on google for vauxhalls local dealership and placed a page on gogle adwords describing vauxhalls abysmal response to my complaints. They wont be happy when the managing director of vauxhalls and the dealership get a letter with the web address on their doormat which will quite simply explian the response to a customers issues with them.
Cant you chase this woman mate? I HATE being done over, cannot abide it!! Bitter bitter pill to swallow.

I arrested her in her home mate,
She closed down her business but has started up again with someone fronting her business so we are in the process of civil proceedings,
It didnt go very far on the criminal side as apparantly she said she didnt know the state of her businesses finances, she did spend a night in the cells though.

Good luck, if you get anything back Im sure the feeling of elation will be fantastic.
You should do.

Dean

She may have ripped you off but isnt the taking of her property classed as theft
-
not if theres no complaint made no.
to get a crime like this u need 3 things,
a location
an offender
and a victim
if either of these are missing then theres no offence,
for her to be a victim shed need to make a complaint and she didnt.
her partner also let me in the lock up,

I do a bit for them. Its Argos they have now and just a word of warning they have got them thru interserve and were looking to get a nartional to do them all and the guide price for the stores is inside and outside once a week for no more than £7.00 a clean. Not great I think
-
Can a copper be involved in an arrest where he is the complainant? Without repercussions?
-
mike
yes they went thru maclellan when i cleaned,
maclellan are now interserve and have their own wc team.
dean
-
yes
for example, assault on police.
if not how vunerable would the police be?

Well, with respect I don't think you can have that completely right.
My quote was much higher than that. If you were right they would have rejected it out of hand. The stores are all different sizes as well....
Oh well we'll see.

I have seen the paper work they sent out when they were looking to find one company to take them all on and they have a price structure of £7.00 per store and yes I know they have different sized stores so some might be £3.00 some might be £11.00 average £7.00 but thats what they asked for, but to be honest if they did manage to get them done for that then they would be miracle workers because for that sort of money I wouldnt think they would have a chance in hell of getting them done, or at least I would hope not.
Interserve wanted the instore cleaners to do them and have allowed a whopping fee of £6.00 per hour but lots of the stores would be a little too much for the cleaners to do.

Dean mate they did the same with me - the best bit for me was when they got on the phone and claimed that "I was breaching my contract by not cleaning the stores (never signed anything BTW) Yet couldn't understand that they were the ones who intitially breached the contract by not paying me. Tossers quite frankly ;)
-
WCE
Did you get payed in the end mate?
Was it direct with maclellan in your case?

No Pete didn't fancy the trip for the money. Would of if I had a bit more to do out there but I didn't at the time
-
I have been speaking to a company called SSDUK about cleaning some Yorkshire Banks , SSDUK are it seems owned by Interserve and they told me they would more than likely be getting Abbey and Boots and more highstreet shops in the near future and if I did the Yorkshire Banks they would put all this other work my way has anyone had any dealings with SSDUK and if so are they ok Regards Dave.
-
Dean if I dont email you tonight about this then I will do ASAP but yes it does seem to be a con.
Mike G I would be interested to hear who you actually deal with. If you want to email me mt address is in my profile (hint hint)

-
I will dig out the whole lot later but I will start with boots (Gallagher R/Park and the high street) Although at the time I did loads through Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Although this is going back a few years now!
-
How much were you done for WCE?
Ill give you a call in the morning mate.
-
hi we do a fair bit of work for them - 50 odd Argos site and the price is 7 quid a store in and out - poor pricing structure to be fair as we have some whoppers on the lads work sheets - Mike g How are you getting on with your sites from them ?
They did have Abbey but thats gone to another one of our clients now .
payment wise - we always get payed - does take some effort though.

No offence but how the hell do you make money from that? 50 x 7 = £350 not a lot really
-
not that i know of/ if i remember corectly its jodie and a jackie green -
-
we have sites all over yorkshire so the argos sites just fit in with the rest of the work - its only a small profit off the argos sites i can tell ya - but its a small profit id rather have than not at all
if they wernt near our other weekly sites we wouldnt bother at all.
-
Be better to fill that time with residential youd make more money!!

Have you ever heard of a company who do work in leeds by the name of FM serviscare?
-
we only do commercial these days got out of domestics years ago when we turned vat reg . - my lads dont have time to do houses to be fair its contract work every morning then larger buildings / offices / reach and wash jobs .
only problem i found with the domestics was when you have some bad- rainy- weeks youve got 4 or 5 lads sat around getting no wages .
commercial solves that problem - just supply the staff with water proofs lol

Thats fair enough although the profit margin cant be much (although I understand the reasons).
-
nope sory dean i dont know them ? do you do work for them ?
we do work in leeds / bradford but its normally contract sites like mothercare / elc /argos and we do some for network rail too .
-
Ahh so you before you answer me I see it - This work forms part of a bigger package.

if you men it fits in with our other regional contracts - then yes - like i said before if we didnt have lots of other sites ( with better margins on ) we wouldnt do them .
we try never to say no to any work to be fair - you never know when a client will drop a big contract that pays well - when you cover lots of sites for them it only makes sense for them to uses you on the new sites too.
-
Thought so! Understand where you are coming from I did wonder how anybody could make a business profitable on those prices but if they are fillers then fair enough.

Oh well I guess I won't be doing them then. I quoted more than twice that per store.
I wouldn't do them for less.
Some of the ones I'm quoting are in Central London, can't imagine any window cleaner with access to that volume of work would do anything for £7. Not with the congestion charge on top of other costs.
-
Sounds like I was wrong then, £7 a store! :o :o :o
It must be tricky to make a profit, unless you have loads of other shops in a row, it would work then.
Oh well I'll see what they say today.
-
Hey Mr Sparkle you never know if they cannot get them done for £7.00 then they might well have to pay you more
-

No, they will find someone I'm sure. It's because people accept work at these prices that the big companies go into businesses like Argos and win national contracts.
If you don't value what you do no-one else will either.
The bloke earlier may have loads of other shops around them, but it still too cheap IMO
-
Funnily enough chased up the quote I had done today.
They are after £7 a store. I just laughed, and I will walk away from the whole thing, if the price isn't better.
I'm not chasing my tail for that sort of money.
-
Pretty sure Carmen has left them now. Infact I think she left a while ago.
Pete I dont really deal with anyone there I do the work, send them an invoice and they eventually pay me.
