I have just bought a wfp backpack system it came with a big blue cylinder which i think is resin, please tell me if im wrong. I was told just plug one end into tap with hose and the other end into the backpack, but when reading other posts i read about ro unit, is this something that i need to get going, if yes how much are they normally and where in my system do i put it. i am based in Glasgow incase that makes any difference. Can anyone tell me how many litres of water a large cylinder of resin should do. thanks

You can get a ro unit from here.
http://www.ro-man.com/shop/index.php/cPath/22?osCsid=9a697ef3a2e3ac5714f86ce59c3a54c3
The unit won't go (or you don't want to have it) with your system.
The ro is better going in a shed at home in between a tap and a water container.
You then transfer the water to your van tank or into barrels.
I don't know what the tds reading of water is where you are so cannot answer how long your resin will last.
If you have a tds meter you can work it out with this calculation:
The formula came from www.andwat.co.uk/ a while ago. To see how long a 25 litre of resin will last divide 500,000 by your TDS reading, this will then give you the amount of water per 25 litre sack of resin.
Example with a tds of 200:
500000/200=2500 litres per 25 litre bag.

what difference does having an ro make

you dont need an RO in glasgow, TDS is less than 30ppm anyway. but dip the TDS meter in and find out.
scrimman takes a small DI vessel out with him and fills up the backpack at customers taps.

My tap tds is 60, with 300gpd ro off ebay for £114 down to 0ppm now. Just practising on own windows now to eliminate white spots. lol

if your in glasgow dont bother with ro mate honestly. just do as instructed and use the di vessel
