Title: Flea Bombs...
Post by: daysdeepclean on September 17, 2009, 09:15:13 pm
I'm cleaning carpets for a friend who's just bought a bungalow and she wants it de-flead... I've got the smoke bombs at the ready but I'm wondering, do I clean the carpets before, or after the smoke bombs?

Personally I would go with kill first clean afterwards but I'm sure there's merit for doing it the otherway round too

I didn't, why? I made sure I didn't need a licence and stuff like that, these things are sold to anyone..... It's the customer who's demanded I use the stuff and as long as I wear the correct PPE, I'm happy to crack on!!!

I'm happy to offer the customer reasons "Not" to have it done! All I've offered is to light the things. She's actually bought them, she bothered about fleas in the skirtings and all that crap!

If there's a reason I should "Not" use this stuff then I need to know, no smart arse comments please.... They have a 4 year old girl and are all moving in in 2 or 3 weeks time! The house is completely empty up until that time!!!

Colin over the years I have found the fleas tend to thrive in the carpets and skirting board cracks. its the eggs and the larvae your going after and they ain't air born like flies for which these bombs are designed for. I know this because from time to time I have to use those type of bombs in the attic at home here for thunder flies. my advice would be to explain to her that the problem is in the carpets and that is why your there. had it been an air born and surface problem Renta kill would have been a better chioce

Two things important if you use flea bombs or foggers..
Tell the neighbours  --  most attached house leak into one another and budgies may fall of the perch.
Mow the lawn at  there are usually as many  in the grass as there is in the carpet, in fine weather, and for some reason thats when most people will do this kind of work.

Having said that i would suggest not using them.

I took the good advice and decided I'm not using them.... I told the customer I wasn't happy doing it and she insisted she wanted it done, she actually bought them from me to do herself ::)

So it's out of my hands!!!! I've still got her 2 ovens a 3 bedroom house to carpet clean clean.... So happy days :)
