Title: Wasp Spiders

Anyone else encountered these frightening looking things.

I did a new clean in Deal yesterday.  I'd squeezed between the conservatory and 6ft fence when the customer returned home.  He said to come out from the gap and then explained that there was a local infestation of Wasp Spiders.  I asked what they looked like and he said there was one right beside my head. 

There it was!!! - quite a large spider with a body like a wasp.  The body is around 15mm - 20mm but about 65mm if you include the legs - yuk!

The customer said they are reknowned for biting and might be poisonous.  They've come over from warmer countries and are now spreading North at a fast rate.

I used my pole horizontally to finish the side of the conservertory, put some gloves on and tucked my trousers in my socks  ;D

While completing the job I saw around 30 of them - as you have probably guessed - I dislike spiders big time!

These are called false widow spiders and if they bite you its very similar to a bee sting, normally they are found in shed's and on fences, So its best to keep away from them. They are from the same family as the black widow spider, but they are not as venomous.

I dont mind getting covered in spiders as long as i know they arent dangerous to my health!
But this is abit worrying  :o

 :o i have them in my garden. I didnt know what they were called but i have to be careful the last time a got bitten by a spider i ened up in hospital with an allegic reaction  :'(
