Hi,just put a 125psi pump on my system now, producing water at 2min 20sec a ltr. Thought it might be a bit faster than this though. Does this seem about right? Its a 200gpd system, used to take about 14hrs to make 100 ltrs,it was woefully slow!! Should be about 3 1/2 hours now for 100 ltrs.
-
400gpd twim pump (2x200gpd)
75ltrs/hr. in at 100ppm out at 1ppm before DI
-
Ah,this is after di,wonder if that will slow it a bit?
-
200gpd systems are for fish tanks don`t let anyone talk you into thinking they will produce enough for window cleaning, get a 40x40 and be done with it you won`t need anything else.
-
A 200gpd is fine for my needs.I just got a similar pump to you Jarvy and funnily enough am now producing exactly the same amount-1litre every 2 minutes 20.That produces enough for what I need over night.
-
I take it a pumped unit is the one to go for then ::)
i was planing on getting a 100gpd ro man one running into a 650l ibc and leave it running most of the time, how long would it take to fill with tds @380 ?

;D ;D ;D
Had to laugh 'coz its true!!
-
Oh dear :o
may have to go for a 2nd hand unit as i want to get producing asap

no offence old pal but not so . my 200 makes 25 ltrs an hour so 600 every 24 no booster pump just mains pressure never run out yet
-
Does it good for you Mr Thorpe my HF5 40x40 makes 200ltrs an hour.

thats the dangerous thing on forums, they let people post stuff like this
so a 200 GPD RO will be no good for window cleaning
thats just rubbish

its not a competion, oooooooo look at mine, its 10 " when semi hard, a full foot when its a stonker
its like the school playground
its about the amount of water you use, its fairly simple, mr Smith might only use 200 L per day, so he doesnt need a 40X40 which makes 200 L in 1 hour
fairly easy to understand
-
Matt you like VW camper vans there`s no way on earth you have 10" mate slack or not lol. ;D
-

;D ;Dthats very impressive but my point is i dont need more than 600 every 24 so its fine for me and would probably be fine for plenty of others
lets not have a tiff eh? we have been getting on fine for so long xx
-
If you can make water quick enough you don`t need to have it going 24-7,if your only getting such a small amount of water per hour from a 200gpd unit how much do you think your chucking down the drain. The water pressure out of the tap won`t alter no matter what Ro your using, the smaller RO unit will waste so much water it`s a joke.

No lets not have a tiff lol,all i`m saying is your water is turned on all that time just to make a small amount. :-*
-
i get 2 ltrs of pure for 1 ltr waste is that bad?
-
I can`t see that mate if it`s on for that long over the course of the day the sums don`t add up,a 600ltr tank over that time. You must be chucking a lot more than that down the drain.
-
and i bet i am the only person on here using a nintendo wii to type answers aaaaarrrrggghhh so slow
-
no honest i have checked it regular over last 2 years takes just over twice as long to fill a 25 ltr container from waste as it does from product

fit a little tap to the waste water pipe, it slows it right down
i get allmost 2 pure to 1 waste
it works well for me as the waste is just a trickle
-
any way i thought that 40 40s produced more waste than ro-man type systems isnt that why they can make larger amounts of pure in a shorter time?

You are chucking about 60 to 75% down the drain on a 4040. Sure you can tune it down to 50/50, but the membranes don't last as long, and up to and over £200 a pop for some of them, they are a bit too expensive for that.
That roughly translates to :
400l produced, is 600l waste.
250l produced, is 750l waste.
200GPD might be too slow, but a 300GPD shouldn't do too bad if you leave it on 24/7. All depends on how much water you use. If you use around 500l per day, it should be okay if your static.
I've got everything in the van, so I need quick fill times. 4040 for me.
-
600l per week will be enough at the mo as only do three days per week
-
200 litres a day? not enough surely?
-
Ok If you work at night. 8)

I got a 300gpd and with my booster i can produce a Ltr in about a minute, running it every other day so i get fresh clean water into my ibc tank then transfer it to my 250Ltr tank in the van.
-
I've got an unpumped merlin and it was only giving 25 litres an hour when I last checked. Water pressure is low though. Usually below the desired minimum of 40 PSI. I think the main issue is: Does it produce enough for your window cleaning needs? If so then no problem IMO. I would also say hat there's no harm if it does run continuously either because it avoids that high TDS water from the RO when first re-starting it.
My waste is restricted.

Using a Merlin with pump - fill 250 ltr tank in 2 hrs
