Title: payments
Post by: dave0123 on September 15, 2009, 06:13:01 pm
Had a customer ring me up today to explain that she has moved bank and the bank wont give her a cheque book as they have got rid of cheques apprently and could she set up some sort of direct debit. I havent spoke to her yet i need to ring back.

But i was just thinking how people cope with either direct debits or standing orders? if your late or anything and end up paying for her windows cleaning when they havent been cleaned.

dont deal with DD's, just ask them to put a bacs payment after you have done them and give your bank details.

id say 40% of my customers do this.

Ask her to pay by Standing Order.

Just have your bank details on your 'windows been cleaned' card and they can transfer the money into your account when required...this I find allows the customer to feel/remain in control of the payment.

My method for tracing the payment is requesting they enter the postcode/house number on the ref section of the electronic payment.

Cheers
Dave.

So what do you do, if custy says "well, I left it under the plant pot as you said" and it isn't there?

so far not happen i trust my custies like my custies trust me ( i hope).  Some dont like the idea so they pay a month or 2 infront so i aint gotta go collecting.  Have mentioned standing order but  most are put of with internet fraud, hackers etc, thats what they tell me.  A small % of my custies are in when i clean so collect after clean.  Was thinking about cheques in the post but would think i would be chasing custies to post the cheques. so at the mo hide and collect works for me so far.

It's amazing the difference in thinking on so many broad subjects between the continent and the UK...

Internet banking and the like is so generally accepted along with things like chip & pin whislt in the UK most people seem to make judgements based on the utterings of journalists and other foolish people.

I truely believe that the press in the UK are really a channel of the gov't/agencies to spread and news the gov't of the day want 'implanted'.

No offence meant to anyone but the UK seems to be run by journo's and those who lurk.

Nowt offensive bout that Pingu. Couldn't agree more. I'd really be impressed by our media if they took 5 minutes out of their show to let us all know that swine flu has actually if not virtually almost subsided to zero(if only temporarily) but ohhhhh no. Just try and scare the proverbial out of us hourly/daily when it was at its peak.  ::)

Anyway off to the bank and work :(

ps about swine flu, i had a cysty yesterday come to door and says oh im here when youre cleaning for once (usually hes at work) so i will pay you now, pays gets chatting, i asked are you on holiday or something, him - no i got swine flu. I was not happy, i said shouldnt you be locked away in quarantine then and got off asap. Pretty irresponsible i thought afterwards on his part

Saying that.........my mate has just had his identity "nicked" from some gent in Nigeria. Credit card had 2k swiped and numerous attempts on his Debit card. Probably from a purchase he made on the internet. Although that can't be proven. MY mate who works for the met(pretty high up) and in the anti terrorism division said to me the other day that these scumbags can get their hands on software where if they hack your computer can actually see on "their" pc's everything we do on ours. Key for key. Pretty un nerving really.

The software is called a 'key logger' and they have been around for at least 10 years!
