Title: Not Impressed
Post by: Slash on September 15, 2009, 04:31:47 pm
My Wagtail came today and I tried it on my french windows, works fine but the quality is CRAP,the mop bit looks like it was cut by a drunk using a blunt saw, terrible and is begining to shread already,it's not even hemmed or anything,I am going to cut an old monsoon strip from Unger and hem the ends and stick it on the Wagtail, definetly not worth the £25.00 and also the rubbers are crap, something you would get in B&Q,thats my rant over,I won't be buying another one,...................................................

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Stick with it,.. its a fantastic but of kit. The rubbers are rubbish granted, but throw in some ettore soft and you're laughing.

Its much better for big windows than small ones IMO.

Crummy design when you think about it. Couple of millimetres of rubber blade pushing the applicator against the glass? What's that all about?

 ;D ;D ;D

A normal reaction from a wagtail newbie!

I thought exactly the same. The rubber is superb BUT you can only use the very lightest of pressure on the glass. Try it again but this time with a gentle hand, any harder & it just streaks!!

Unger mop won't work, the best tip was from macmac on another thread- buy a floor mop from Lidl,(blue & white, £2.99 each) it's the perfect flipper pad, it really is.

It will take time to master it but it's the best piece of trad kit I ever used.

You'll know which one when you see it. They do a two pack of window cleaning pads- it's not these. It's the ones for the swivel floor mop, they're larger & are sold as a single item. There are two though, a white microfibre (too long fibres) & the blue & white one- this is the one you want. It's hemmed along each side, if you cut it right down the middle, you get two flipper pads just the right size with a hem on one side & just cut it then to length. Once cut to length it leaves the hem open at each end so I just put a few stitches in at each end to stop it pulling out.

Hope that helps

As above, I bought the smaller window cleaning pads instead on my mod link above, but seems a better idea using the larger ones as mentioned.
