I took on the cleaning of a restaurant carpet a couple of years ago. The previous cleaner had badly shrunk it but failed to get it anywhere near clean.
I struggled like hell even with my best heavy-duty approach, but managed to get it OK and got the owner to have it cleaned every 3 months. Unfortunately as often happens, he failed to keep up the regime, even after me badgering him for ages.
I wrote the customer off, but finally after a year of not being cleaned, surprise surprise he's on the phone again ::)
After my last 6 hour night-shift at the restaurant, I vowed never to do this with a portable again, so it was time to phone a very nice man from Coventry to come over and lend a hand.
Big thanks to Steve Knight for doing the business with his maxx diesel 8) This was a horrendous job, and certainly wasn't as-new when we'd done but was the best I've ever seen it come up and the restaurant owner was well chuffed.
I've been trying to get a van sorted for installing a truckmount for a few months now but this has given me a big kick up the bum to get one sorted ASAP!!

We did get the RX out but didn't get on too well with it to be honest! The jets were blocked, but after we got them sorted it didn't work very well... the solution was literally bouncing off the grease and being flung out the side of the RX.
The wand worked better with very slow strokes, because it made a nice little hot patch to melt the grease away. I think because the slots on the RX are moving so fast they heat from the solution hasn't got time to melt the grease. As Steve said, after the wand had cut through the thick of it the RX would have worked better.
This carpet was a complete b'stard though, 30" wide contract axminster, shrunk by the previous cleaner and seams all over the place which were starting to gape in places.
The worst combination - needed a nuclear bomb dropping on on it but very carefully!!!

Yeah the picture is brilliant, all of us were taking photos on our phones, even the owner! It's an Indian restaurant, but a posh one rather than a back-street one. (Those turquoise chairs are new since last time, inspected with interest but they're vinyl not leather :( )
Derek - good job Steve, I just trundled the scrubber round and made myself look important for a few hours :D
Not an easy one because we couldn't exactly nuke it due to the shrinkage risk. A real dilemma, safe side but crap clean or risk it for results... we ended up OK. Plenty of powerburst/greasebreaker/hydradri plus some other bits on top.
All we need now is someone to clean the car park ;D ;D

Well done, you obviously worked hard.
These are nightmare jobs and ones I tend to leave to others,
As for upmarket, I wouldn't eat in a place witha carpet like that, imagine the kitchens :o

a light misting of Mpower and a cold water rinse and that carpet would have come up like new :D :D

Would you agitate and give half hour dwell, wot about using HD on the bad spots?? ;D

joking a side those results are very impressive, it not often you see a carpet so evenly dirty every part of it is black, normally you seen clean circles where the tables stand but this is completely black.
I thought Steve lived in Coventry, bit far for him to travel, did you pay him well ;) ;)

i'm guessing the pictures are post pre spray/agitation
but before/during extraction which will give a more uniform look to the soiling.could be wrong though.

Nice machines the Blue Wave / Thermal Wave sure you wont be disapointed, Have you looked at the VW van range they do a SWB Crafter which imo is just the right size.
Did you get a decent discount on the machine and all the bits ??

great job. but surely that carpet has been pre-sprayed??? (to make it look so dark) it cant possibly be black all cover??!!

It was quite evenly filthy but yes the prespray did make it go blacker (well done detective superintendent derek :D). There were some very defined clean patches, because the tables are never moved. Steve is virtually standing on a "clean" patch but you can't really see it in the picture.
The black patch stretching across the room is the traffic lane from the front door to the raised seating area, steve at that point had wanded up to the edge of it (didn't want to get his hoses too mucky so went at it sideways! ;D )
NickP - spot on ;) Never eaten there though, couldn't stomach it after 2 yrs of sucking that sort of gunk out of the carpet! They offered us takeaway food afterthe job and we all turned a bit green :-X
Doug, the kitchen is pretty neat actually. It's just they don't understand, no matter how many times I've told them, that they need to keep the kitchen floor cleaner and get a big long walk-off mat to stop them tracking it all out on to the carpet.
Paul, looking forward to it... not really got the budget for a crafter and don't want a SWB as I prefer to have a bit of space in the van. Don't want a LWB because it's too long but finding a suitable MWB is proving stupidly difficult :(
P.S. Can we stop taking cheap shots pls ::)

MWB van's are like rocking horse poo I tried to get a new one last summer and there was a 13 week wait on a bloody fiat!!! if you are brave try the auctions a mate of mine does very well from them and he's a carpet cleaner not vehicle trade.
