Title: Outdoor Concerts

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone else offers a clear up service at Outdoor Music Concerts and how you get on with them ?

We already do them.

I wondered how you go about pricing them as it's all guess work with the promoters being very uncertain about the crowd numbers....our British weather doesn't help of course.

We also find the crowds at Classical music events tend to be much tidier than those at Live Band Concerts were everything gets thrown around.

There's also the issue of more and more people bringing the eqivalent of a Banquet with them to eat....then leaving the 10% they didn't eat on the floor for us to pick up.

we asked how many man hours and staff they require, and charge for bin bags, litter pickers

they provide radios, we did an event for 7 hours 5 staff at 10.00ph per cleaner

 £10 per hour....?

We have to stay for the entire weekend or ask staff to be at a venue some 25 miles away by 6:30 am on a saturday, sunday and this year a bank holiday monday.

If you only charge £10 per member of staff, less tax and NIC's how much do you pay the staff and do you only pay yourself £10 per hour for supervising the cleaning ?

Don't get me wrong but it doesn't sound enough to me but as long as you are happy that,s what's important.

I raised the subject because we have cleaned at several Concerts this summer and having sat down and looked at everything we have to pay out for, we had to put up our prices or as in previous years make little to no profit.

Two of the promoters paid up without question and one has already booked us for next summer, ( he thinks we do a really good job which is nice to know) another will let us know once he has dates for next year, ( the Town Council that he rented the Park from for the Concert told him that we left the venue cleaner than before the Concert which again is nice to hear).

The last organiser who we've worked for for 8 years is 'querying' the increase, (our fee went up about £80).
the annoying thing is that I only found this up after chasing accounts for payment. No-one had bothered to contact me. My problem is quite simple, I just can't find 'good staff' who want to give up their weekend to pick up other peoples rubbish for £7.50 per hour.....and who can blame them ?
Personally I can earn more money Cleaning someones patio or carpets in half the time.

Oh... and as a footnote to my post the Promoter who's booked us already for next year made  a very relevant comment.....

sorry, pay cleaners £10ph, charge 15 as we already have ex amount of bags ect.
