Hi fellow CC'S
Have twin vac galaxy and 1 motor appears to be making a different noise to the other. Today i was sure i smelt burning so thought i would inspect. Both motors are lamb 117196-00.
I noticed the following when one vac is engaged the second will still rotate at very much slower in revolutions, but this does not occur when second vac is engaged and first is not.
When both vacs are engaged it starts to make a high pitched zinging noise and i can smell slight burning i suspect from the second motor i checked the intercooler no blockage.
Can anybody help as i dont want to fork out for a new motor as its working but there is a slight burning smell ....
Helpful advice only please
Thanks
Darren
Ps what are the brown plugs at the side of the motor called could it be i need to replace them.....they do look slightly worn but are connecting with the centre brass plate

Sounds like you need to fit new carbon brushes

Hi,
Robert sounds spot on.
Also check the fan impellar on the top of the motor, i had one shed a blade and then all sorts of noises and smells came out of it.

I was caught out recently with the brushes going on a Sureflo pump and a job to do. Turned the brushes round and put them back in..........was a little surprised to find it working fine.

Make sure you get new brushes fitted (brown plugs!) before even attempting to switch your machine back on.... Brushes are a hell of a lot cheaper than a new motor.... Let us know how you get on mate.... Cheers :)
