Title: Changing vac motor in cfr 500

Hi everyone.
How hard is it to change a vac motor in a cfr 500 perfect heat machine.One of them failed today,only has 160 hours on clock.

i assume it's the same as the  powr-flite.
take off the gaurd on the bottom, cut the zip ties that hold the perfect heat coils in place.
disconnect the small qd fittings to remove the coils. Unplug the two wires to the motor, undo the flexible pipe on the motor exhaust, undo the three 10mm nuts holding the motor on the threaded rods. Remove the motor, and replace with the new one,
making sure the exhaust points the same way. Amtech will tell you to replace the rubber gasket, but unless it looks very ropey don't bother. Then simply reverse the above procedure. When you're used to it, you can do it in 10 min's.

Hi AJB.
I removed bottom of machine and checked for loose connections,removed and replaced coils as instucted.
Turned on machine and both vacs are now working.
But they are both working off one vac switch,other switch is dead.

How many switches do you have?  2

Does one switch on the 2 vacs and pump.

If so then the other is the heater

I have got 2 switches one for each vac.A pump switch ,and a heater switch. 4 in all.
Vac switch 2 doesnt work.Vac switch 1 operates both vac motors together,very strange.
Its a cfr perfect heat recycling machine.

Are you sure both vac's are running, i can't see how both can be powered from the one switch, unless it's always done this.
More likely one is spinning the other, as they are series mounted. Carefully remove one wire from one vac motor, ensure it is safe from earthing, then switch on, after that replace the wire, and take one from the other motor, i suspect that
you will find it dead when one of the wires is removed. That will tell you the other motor is not working.
I wonder if it's one of the cheap chinese motors mentioned in an earlier thread.

You were right.The one motor was spinning the other.Ive got a spare 3 stage but its to long to fit in the machine.Wheres the best place to purchase a decent 2 stage motor.

HI Steve,

The vac motors from Amtech aren't too expensive , i brought one about 3 weeks ago and got 20% knocked off!!:)  Worked out at £112 plus vat. I find its best to stick with the original parts for the best results.
