Two this week so far, cotton fringes being cleaned and the cleaning agent has wicked up and stripped the colour from the pile.
Always thoroughly wet the first two inches of the pile then brush it back on to the rug to expose as much of the kelim as possible, then with care you can work on the fringe with safety.

any idea what cleaning agent was used?
Sounds a bit harsh for rug cleaning, if it removes the colour

Karl.
never bother to ask, could be hot water with oxidising bleach, peroxide which is fine on cotton but not wool.
