Clean It Up

Hi
I have a surflo pump fitted to a varistream and the varistream keeps showing the light as red and stopping the pump.
I assumed this was because there was air in the system but doesn't seem to make a lot of difference even if I manually prime the pump.
Does it matter what way up you have the shurflo pump (mine has the in and out at the bottom at the moment).
Any help would be gratefully received.

Battery is flat

yup !

OK then... new battery (heavy duty) fitted and still the same problem... any ideas.
Does anyone know if it matters which way up the surflo pump is fitted?
Cheers

The cut-off (numbers in flashing menu) may be set too low, thus not allowing the pump to cycle. Even if you've not altered the setting manualy, still check it.

Thank you for that.
It has no numbers (not digital one I guess?), just a dial that turns clockwise up to 'boost', but I can never get anywhere near that.
I have to turn it down until it starts, then gradually build up the speed but it normally cuts out (red light comes on) before I have enough flow to thoroughly clean.
:(

Even the older version has a cut-off setting does it not? Never used the older one but isn't it a blue inner dial or something?

Andy,
is there a kink anywhere along the hose line? check all on the reel as well

Also- my pump is the same way as yours- connectors at bottom. I've always had them this way with no probs in over 5 years.

Just a black dial, no numbers at all!
Good news about the mounting of the pump, thank you.
Also, no kinks in the pipe... that was the first thing I checked and was hoping that would be the problem.
Sometimes I can build up the flow and it just keeps going no problem but mostly it wll only go so high then it cuts out and I have a hell of a job getting it up to the level I need again.
Sorry to bombard you with questions, I really do appreciate the suggestions.

Hi
I am in Stafford, the pump is about 5 years old and has been doing it for about 12 months now but is gradually getting worse.
How much do you want for your spare pump?
Andy

I would loan it to you.
It was taken out when I changed the van but then I did a deal on all new kit for the van, thus it has become a spare.
I will email you

Thank you for that... I'll take a look.
Fingers crossed that this fixes it.

I would like to thank everyone for their help and especially Tony for lending me his spare shurflo pump to test my system.
The pump reacted exactly the same and so I could rule out my pump as the problem.
It transpires that the blue dial inside the varistream was the culprit... I have turned it up and it seems to have solved the problem. (Nice one Jamie)
Tony, I will drop the pump at the garage as promised. Thank you so very much

your welcome mate, sorry you had to make the journey.
Still all sorted now

Journey not a problem. It was a pleasure to meet you.
Thank God for people who are prepared to help others out in their times of need. I hope I can pass on the favour to someone sometime soon.
You're a star.
