I do!!!!!

I work for a company that cleans all Tesco stores in the three counties hereabouts. They do all the cleaning in-house - including the windows and pressure washing.

Please believe me, you don't want to be involved with them at all. I won't be before too long. They are dispensing with my services!

I don't know what company does it around here but I've seen the European's up step ladders at 3am with no proper equipment and when I walked past a couple of days later it looks like they used greasy cloths to do them  ::)

I Cleaned 5 on a weakly and 4 on a quarterly clean.

It was good money and didnt interfere with my domestics as i was done by 8 am

the company who i subbed it from at the time had about 30 stores covering norfolk , suffolk ,cambs and essex.

they got rid of me as quick as a flash after i sent them notification that i was putting my prices up after three years.

It cost me over £15k overall to lose that  in 1 month notice nearly crippled me as a business.

i would seriously think long and hard if i was to take on any more

Marcus...

Avoid Tesco at all costs. Even if you do get a contract, after a few months they will demand that you cut your prices. And then every few months later they will demand that you cut your prices again.

You will be tied into a contract that is seemingly binding on you to provide the service but that they can do anything they want - and the only rule is that you can't win.

Your work will be subjected to a RAG quality audit Red, Amber, Green. As long as everything is Green, you're OK. If anything happens to go Amber or (heaven forbid) Red, your life will be an absolute misery.

Avoid Tesco like the plague.

Just my two pence worth - if the money was good.... and they were regular ... and they had more work you could obtained ..... why put the prices up ?

you dont need to think long and hard about taking contracts on - you need to think about telling customers your increasing prices off your own back .

We have quite a few regional contracts for different companies - most prices are set others we quote for - instead of putting prices up mention extra tasks that need doing - signage ,graffiti , gutter cleans and get some extra that way

shows your proactive and keeps you in your clients good books - even if they loose a contract and let you go - when a new contract starts there's a much higher chance of them calling you .

I was asked to quote a whole string of Tescos stores once by a cleaning firm from Wales I believe. At the time I was very green and didn't have a clue so didn't pursue the job.
My wife works for Tescos and has first hand knowledge of how the cleaners operate. Not a pretty sight. Windows were cleaned with a jetwash at our local store.

i used to clean local tesco many years ago, it was my first really big job so i sort of guessed the price i wanted for it and to my amazment i got it. now i m not daft so i thought this won t last long at this price so i did nt consider it part of my earnings, but it lasted about 3 years before some bright spark said let the internal cleaners do the windows as well as the floors etc.when this happened it did nt really effect me at all except my holiday fund did nt fill up as fast as it used to. so what i m really saying is by all means have a go at getting thier work ,but don t rely on it.  by the way i used to get 250 00 for 8 hours work nearly 20 years ago,my tans only just wearing off.  cheers mick

Used to do some stores up north for best part of last year for a company called NIC.Good job windows fortnightly and signs monthly.
Then they lost the contract and a company called carlisle cleaning took over and I lost the job because they said their instore cleaners would clean them, but they don't and the windows are a mess now, it has been about 10 to 12 weeks and some stores are complaining about it but their hands are tied as it is a head office decision as to who gets the contract.
And Yes I did contact the company who took over as I used to 'look after' these jobs as they were all newish and easy to keep right, but they were not interested even when I mentioned about the town centre store with 12 foot high windows that their cleaners were supposedly to clean. Their answer " we have a team that does the high ones, thank you for your enquiry"

Well I have seen the manager of said store a lot lately and commented on his windows, only to be told that they have been cleaned once in 10 to 12 weeks and he is not happy, but there is nothing he can do about it.

Once again its all down to price not quality.

Ask me the world is going backwards, I would sooner pay a tenner and have clean windows than pay a fiver and have dirty windows,

Im  going to shut up now.

Cleaners at our local Tescos in wilts are supplied bt TC cleaning. Window cleaner turned up yesterday and started blading the insides from a firm called Amber Cleaning Services. Looks like they may come from London?

Sounds about right for these big companies - bring someone in from 100miles away for a job that any local cleaner could do.  ::)

Our local Tescos brings the cleaners over from Wales about 100miles away to clean the store - well the contractors do.

Amber cleaning comes from Leeds for Tesco contracts but T C cleaning keeps them very busy and the sub contractors are very well paid
