I am just enquiring about what the going rate for pressure washing driveways and patios currently is.
any help will be gratefully appreciated.
-
DS is ur man ;)
-
i think £20 is reasonable enough , though that is the low end price. with fuel prices going up and that, this price could go up. I know the more experienced washer will easily charge more.
-
????? £20 for what ?
-
usually between £1 and £3.50 a sq metre. ;)
-
????? £20 for what ?
£20 for the whole job.......only kidding.
Sorry was tired last nite, £20 per hour
-
I work on betreen £60 & £80 an hour

.......... :o.........
-
£20 per hour is nothing short of ludicrous!
-
Thanks guys I have settled for £2.50 per sq metre for cleaning and £2.50 per square metre for sealing.
Should I charge more for the sealing as I have been told that sealing is a royal pain in the rear.
Matt
-
Matt,
If can be a pain so if you have not done sealing before then go on a course and learn properly. At £2.50 per sq mt you will loose out big time.
-
Roger would I be looking about doubling that then?
-
Yes at least, we only use Resiblock which is expensive, our prices start from about £7.00 per sq mt + vat for sealing only
-
It'll cost you about £1.50 per metre in sealant alone.
Then add the labour for two coats, plus it has to be a dry day, which is impossable to plan for. Plus your labour and expenc for sanding(if blockwork)
Dont sell yourself short, im new to sealing too mind
-
Thanks guys.
Does anyone know of any pressure washing and sealing courses in the midlands?

Where can you buy resiblock and how much is it for a 25ltr drum?

Sealing courses are done by the following
Resiblock (Basildon Essex)
PICS I think they are in Newbury.
Smartseal, I think these guys hold courses all over the UK.
Matt do a google search for these companies as there web-sites might give you some more info.
-
....also Roger,
On your samples on your site I see you have cleaned limestone (bathstone) nicely. Did you only use pressure, or did you use chemicals? if so, which ones?
Cheers

Contact Resiblock direct for prices as it will depend on what product and how much you want. We are Resiblock contractors so our buy-in prices will be different to what you will get.
-
I pay about £80 including postage and VAT at the mo for 25ltrs, will it be mush more do you think?

Yes but as I said it will depend on the product as Resiblock do various sealers for different applications.

Richy,
We mix all our own cleaners, so don't really want to give anything away, but you could try Tensid as they do very good but not cheap chemicals for Limestone cleaning, just remember no Acids near Limestone
-
Tensid said to use an acid, then an alkaline to neutralise.
Would you not do this?

Depends which acid they said use, the reason I said no Acids is if you don't know what you are using you can do damage, pending on what you need to clean off the Limestone then an alkaline based cleaner should work in most cases.

It is an old building that i have to clean that has a very busy road close by. So it may be traffic film. Do you think TFR would be affective?
-
Photo of the buildiing/surface would be good.
TFR, it might but I would use the non-caustic type seeing as it is Limestone.
Without seeing the surface, it is hard to say.

this is it
but it is over a large area

OK From Tensid, Prosoco 766 to clean, then the Limestone afterwash.
They also have Limestone restorer which might be easier for you to use.
Have a good look through Tensid's website to really see what fits with what you need to clean.
One thing though Richy, download any MSDS you need from their website and read them through properly, as some of their chemicals are nasty in the wrong hands. Wear the proper PPE and you will be fine.
-
Cheers mate.
Ive budgeted for some new PPE.
Looking forward to the job. It should be about 10 days work!!
Do you think TFR will work? if it does it would be a lot cheaper in chemicals. But I would prefer to spend more and get it done right.

i dont think TFR will touch that you will need the proper chemicals you will also need to make sure no pedestrians are walking nearby when blasting as even the diluted spray back from these chemicals can cause nasty burns.

We will have enclosed scaffold up and no pedestrians will be walking under it. However the pavement will start at the end of the scaffold.
Do you think that this will be ok?

that sounds ok, but if you see any spray going near pavement then seal this area too, let us know how you get on.
-
will do, ill be taking loads of pics.
I should be doing it in october/november.
So, the alkaline prewash and acid afterwash, would I have to use a sprayer with viton seals?
-
i have always found it better to brush on i know you use more but it seems to get in nooks and crannies and work better when brushed, if yo do decide to spray then yo would require them seals and remember to wash sprayer thoroughly with water after use as the acid will ruin any metal parts if left in the sprayer.
one more thing ensure that all glass surfaces are covered too as any chemical on the glass will ruin them, i think its tensid that sell a solution you paint on the glass and it sets like a sheet of plastic which is peeled off on completion.
