That is very impressive ;D

If an Northern can make that kind of money up north then I need to make more of an effort to earn that kind of money in london.

I gonna to try push my prices up if i get some more work in london which won't happen a while yet >:( I have done my leg in  :'( I not going to be able to work for a few weeks.....

Sorry if there have already been a thread about this guy off the Dragon’s Den...It just that I have not got a lot to do today...

If you can't sork for a few weeks will your customers stay loyal, or have you already informed them?

Just wondering what people do in these situations.

I watched that show and it doesn't say how many employees etc., three guy could do that easily, if it is monthly and not 4 weekly two guys could do it. But the guy built up his cleaning firm offering pretty much anything they could turn there hands too, and went for allot of contract work, and good for him.

But what's the point, if you have to sell pieces of it to someone else just to afford growth. Also his profits where not that great, after everything was said and done.

Sales and profits are often very different.

Personally i cant see him doing £6k on his own, thats £1500 a week, £300 a day, ok its not impossible with some hard work but he must of had a couple of guys with him.

You have good days and bad, and with weather you cant escape the bad days, i would say a £300 day is a very good day, so youd have to have very good days every single day.

I remember watching that and while they turned over alot, their profit was dismal. I remember duncan bannatyne whatever it is, saying he will help him with pricing up.
The guy has done well though. He's a proper grafter for sure.

370k divided by 30 staff. Take off the overheads, fuel, vehicles, equipment lease, employers national insurance etc etc and what have you got left? They claim a profit which means they are paying their guys peanuts. Totally unsustainable.

Turnover is not a reliable guide to success. After all, if you set up a stall selling £5 notes for £4 you will turn over a lot of business.

Slightly gutted as I was considering an approach to one of Bannatyne's property companies. Got an in from one of my employees. Not sure whether to bother now. Saya they have contracts in North of Scotland. I know the building they are referring to if it is one of Duncan's.

lets break down 370k

vat 55k
employees wage(say 20 part time and 10 full time £6per hour which is prob under estimate) 250k
fuel (say 8 vans 200 a month) 20k
unit cost 10k
employee ni 28k

that is 363k an no were near the outgoings such company would have i mean there are further vehcle cost rates insurance equipment unifom phone loans ect ect

was it actually making a profit?

Many people stop when they get out of their comfort zones - That lad just showed that ambition and commitment can get you whatever you want

I know what you mean, but if they had that much nous they wouldn't need Bannatyne.

With a Dragon on board you could get your business national within a year,on your own it might take 10 or more.

I really dont think having a dragon(joe blogg of a show) will make success more likely, ohh and Deborah Meaden's first company failed after 18 months, and Theo Paphitis lost a fortune when Woolworth went under, Peter Jones's first computer business went under and lost 200k went a bar he started was sold off. So they don't always get it right and they know even less about the business they are investing in most cases than the guys who they are loaning money to.

I also really dont see it as a success to have to sell off part of your business.

The dragons don't do the program just for the investments.  I bet they get offered investments everyday of the week, without the program. Its is a sure way to fame. With books, invitations to other programs like Top Gear, etc. Peter with the money supermarket adverts.
