I use a microfibre cloth clamped in an Unger Clamp on a pole to finish off a couple of windows that I cannot access to do by hand. The clamp only grips the cloth in the middle 3 inches so the cloths keep pulling out. Do I have a bum clamp or are they all like this? The remedy I guess is to use elastic bands or similar to secure the cloth but surely the product should do as advertised.
Anyone had similar experience or have better suggestions. WFP sytem not an option due to cost and me being on a water meter!

I had the same problem with the clamp. i used it with microfibre cloths and they would have too much friction and so pulle out of the clamp.
I'm wondering if I shouldn't have used M/fibre cloths.

Yes. I've got one as well. I used it twice and had exactly the same problem as you. It won't grip microfibre cloths, chamois or scrims. IMHO it's lightweight rubbish and has no place in anyone's toolkit.

wish i read this post a weak ago mines is also rubbish. i thought i damaged as i used it to clamp a wire brush to scrub down a wall i was cleaning soot off. it lasted about 5 minutes before i got the ladder out and did it by hand

Can you not wrap a cloth round an applicator handle? I did that a couple of days ago on a window I couldn't reach, but didn't want to drag out the trolley for just one window.
Strange thing though, I could only seem to clean in one direction (down) when facing the window, but when stood at the side of the window, could go from right to left no problem.

is this a plastic clamp ???
if so try and find the spring loaded metal ones, had one for 3 years only use it for internal and wiping off fascias now but it grips like a barsteward, have your fingers off if not careful ;D

Yes it is the green plastic Unger clamp and I too find that I can only clean in one direction down. If I try up and down the cloth grabs and tears out of the clamp but it does not take much pressure for it to release from the clamp. Have'nt tried it side to side will give that a go next time.
