Title: "Compact work"
Post by: AuRavelling79 on September 04, 2009, 05:28:26 pm
Well I am beginning to realise that compact work - even though only averagely priced can be a good earner - let me illustrate.

I do a run of 7 x 1930's semi's (fronts only) out of ten side by side without moving the van. I have prices ranging from £5.50 to £8 depending on when I took them on, whether they have an extension or whether they are two-monthly. The total on a two monthly clean (which includes all the monthlies) totals £45.50 so the average price is exactly £6.50.

These semi's have an upper and lower 5-faceted bay (10 panes each bay) , another  upper window with typically 4 panes and a front door which has a sidepanel. One has an extra window in an extension. So these semi's are bigger than local authority but not huge.

I timed myself from pulling up to driving away working briskly but thoroughly and not stupidly fast. How long do you reckon I took to do my £45.50?

i had the same thing today all mine is compact.
i had 11 houses to finish today at the end of the road.
4 on 1 side, 7 across the road

the 4 are 3 bed: 4units at the front inc door. 2 tops on the side (small) and 4 at the back

the 7 across the road are: BIG 6 window bays for the living room, large bedroom window above. smaller bedroom above the door. at the back are 4windows and a door but the windows are staggered so get no drips.

1hr and half, inc collect and a chat, not all of them were in, which is good for speed!

Pulled up at 11:49
Drove off at 12.41

So 52 mins. Inc frames and cills and plastic panels in doors/sidepanels.

House 1 and 2 not in so payment slips put through
House 3 in, came out with cash and asked me to move dustbin and recycle bin back in as bin men hadn't collected (due to bank holiday schedule) as it was heavy.
House 4 out but came back while I was finishing and paid me. So I waited until he went in to finish the door.
House 5 in and paid
Houses 6 and 7 out so payment slips thru'.

If I had pushed it on speed and not run the brush over the top cills or got every bit of grit off the bottom ones then I reckon 45 mins - but I like to give good service.

If I was working lazily, not having the slips in my pocket or the right change or the cill wiping rags to hand etc then probably an hour.

But the point is compact average prices work as well if not better than a few high prices.
