We work for a company that supplies water coolers.
3 or 4 times a week we are called out when one of them leak to suck up the water and treat the tide mark.
They are always in offices and the carpets are always low profile.
Bearing in mind it is only plain cold water that has leaked it never ceases to amaze me, the colour of the water that we extract. It is sometimes dirtier than when we are cleaning.
Clearly it does not remove stains and you would not dream of only cleaning with water but it certainly removes a huge percentage of the dirt.
-
that would be because the flood of water has suspended the dirt and made it loose from the fibers.
Chems are Very much needed IMO
-
Also do quite a bit for Cooler aid ;D And yes always amazed at the crap i suck up,always use fib and fab and od fresh though ! Have quite a bit of work from company`s through showing them what i have sucked out of their carpets !
-
You can always buff it using Minitex and small pad, nice n quick ;)
-
I have started doing jobs for said company. Always quick n simple. What are you all chargig them per call out?
-
I have minimum call out usually £65,but for them depending on where it is i usually charge about £40 ish .You ?
-
£40. Usually in and out 10 mins. Glad I'm not selling myself short.

Probably we have all at some time " cleaned " a carpet only to discover we forgot to add anything to the tank, but still got a good result.
Obvously woulh have to be a lightly soiled carpet in the first place, but it's surprising how much will come out with just water.
-
so am i the only person who uses my machine to flush only, all my cleaning is done before i switch the truckmount on.

What you're suggesting Derek is correct practice although in hard water areas an acidic rinse would be wise.
-
i acidic rinse all the time unless i'm using a m/s. the only thing i put in my chem tank is hydramaster clearwater rinse, and maybe a bit of scent occasionally. other than that, all my cleaning is done prior to switching on.
prespray
agitate
dwell
switch on.
rinse.
simples.

ps, i have a water softener.
-
Derek MS does rinse brilliantly but it isn't always neutral ph! it's something that people forget, if you have a harsh cleaner that is neutral ph you have to rinse but an AR isn't required but a mild cleaner with a ph of 9 needs neutralising.

okay, i'll be more descriptive.
i acidic rinse all the time unless i use a micro splitter, in which case i rinse with plain water.

-
Don't you use your t/m to prespray??
-
yes carpet worx, i use a hydraforce but my point is i don't wand to clean, i only wand to rinse. i have never put (for example) power burst in my chem tank and cleaned if you get my point.

I could not do the one yesterday.
They called for another today at Addenbrookes but had to be done before 4pm which I could not make but as it is a dry stain I am doing tomorrow. ( fingers crossed I will get there before 4.)
It must cost them a fortune for us lot.
-
Yeah ,you would have thought they would try and sort the coolers out ! Obviously quite a big prob with them leaking ! Did 1 at Hinchingbrook last year, hate hospitals ! Used to work in one ,and the stuff that goes on behind the scenes is horrible !
