He was from the North West too.

J D Marco is or was Anglesey based, I asked him if I could accompany him for a day, and learn the secret of his success. I said that I would then write a totally objective account of his business methods, and post them on here.
This must have been around November 07. He replied that he was mad busy until after Christmas, and that he would be in touch after the holiday. I guess he must be still too busy as I heard nothing.
Anglesey is the most impoverished area of the UK, and I know that Jason[ occasional poster] who also works there, was struggling to get a half decent price for his work.

It's not J D Marco he is still around and actually posts occaisionly - He even apologised for his attitude. IIRC someone on here actually knew his brother which made him back peddle ::)
NO platnum is Daniel and it is interesting that he earn't £300 by doing £2 fronts and £5 houses on his remaining round. Interesting Daniel because your round that is for sale doesn't say that "Traditional work esablished for 7 years with a strong and loyal customer base that continues to grow year on year. All work is competitively priced consisting of three compact rounds cleaned on fortnightly basis with 100% cash with an option for cheques. All rounds are within 2 miles of each other. I kept this work for myself after selling majority of my work however due to my other business venture moving faster than expected I am putting these rounds up for sale. New monthly estate turnsover £140 with an opportunity to purchase £700 per month off another window cleaner on the estate who is now selling up... Prices ranging from £8 - £15 making a combined opportunity of purchasing £2300 of compact work. Ideal opportunity for a business looking to frow or new start up business looking for work - May consider splitting rounds up but would prefare a complete purchase"
Where does the £8-15 come from. You called us window cleaners thick yet you dont even have the brains to cover your tracks. I put it to you that etheir you are full of bull about the £300 or you are lying about the prices on the round which is a case of mis-advertising. Which is it? Both maybe? ::)

I didn't know about owned, or its slang use being utter defeat in an amusing and humiliating way, but very good use of a word Matt that probably doesn't get out much. For a bit of a wider acceptance, if you really want to champion this word can i suggest shouting it from the football terrace to humilate an apposing player.

However there is always the chance that the rest of the terrace will turn and 'own' you because they don't know what it means.

I found out a bit more about  JD, he is a real grafter apparently. He thinks nothing of working 12 hour days. He has a couple of vans on the road, drives a tidy car and so does his Mrs.
If you are prepared to work those kind of hours, you can turn over a few quid, even on what most of us would consider under priced work.

A trolley can be faster than a van mount on compact work. I heard that he turned up to do one domestic customer at 06.50 in the morning.

I heard that when he collects pre seven am he taps on the bedroom window with a small fishing net affair on the end of a pole and they have to put the money into that to save him waitingm for them to come down in dressing gowns.

Lol, but I wasn't joking.
I never did get to spend a day with the guy, so I can't disprove his claims, If there are 3 guys working 12 hours a day, they will turn over a fare few quid. He could never earn that kind of money on his own with the type of work and prices in the area.
3 guys taking £20 an hour would earn £720 for a 12 hour day, I believe he is claiming a turnover of 8 grand a month.

I think we all bragg a bit. Mostly when we first start doing stuff or breakthrough. I always liked jdmarco- the origninal poster that is- because his whoppers were huge and pure class. If paul whitehouse, or harry enfield ever think about sending us up i can't think of a better model.
