Title: free offers
Post by: ajs on September 01, 2009, 06:27:38 pm
hey
trying to start a mini round, do you think it would be attractive to offer a free clean/fast clean for the first time. i relise there would be a long turnaround ie. 4 weeks but i do work so it not that bad.
i just thought that it maybe an idea to show that i would be back again

I would offer the 1st 2 cleans for free then the next 2 at 50% and then continue but with 5% reductions until you get them paying the full amount.

Oh and the 1st 6 cleans all properties should be cleaned twice and the insides once with the exceptions of conservatoires which should be cleaned every 8 weeks but the insides only every other clean but with a 25% surcharge if the outside is below the 45% threshold bearing in mind the %'s in paragraph 1.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Dave.

"hi there, are you interested in your windows been cleaned first clean is free and as long you want to continue then i will charge on the first clean for the second... i think it will have to be a trust thing if i come back

ajs..why not just clean thm for the price you both agree and then be consistant and regular? this will make you stand out and in no time you'll be on the word of mouth circuit.

Forget the 'ploys'just do a good job and do what you say you will do when you say you'll do it.

Cheers
Dave.

well the ones i have done are normally £10, there are two large bungalows that i have done for £15 but i just want to get more and do it in the easiest way.
you see i do it on a saturday as i have said before. i want to turn over at least 8 every saturday = 4 weeks in a month well most of the time. so then i can rotate them if you know what i mean

Dave - thats very good advice.

The only incentives we give are for introducing a friend then both parties get 20% next clean - small discount but another customer in the bag! ;D

Don't clean anything for free! Why would you do that? Thats what the customer will think. Is he casing the house?

If anything agree a price and slightly over deliver.

As Pingu said, do a good job and be consistant.

Have a look at my "free window cleaning" below. While it is free, money changes hands.

I used to do 50% for the first 4 cleans.. after that most of the newer customers said "no" to any further cleans..

So although i got money i didn't make money and cheated myself.

Dont cheat yourself, anyone really after a window cleaner will pay you and keep hold of you. Those that just go along with it cos its free/cheap or whatever will soon knock it on the head cos they do not want it done for the long term..

Put it this way..

Tesco offers 2-4-1 on a pack of cookies.. you go "oh 2-4-1 nice a freebie" a few weeks later the special offer ends, and do you go and pay full price for the biscuits again? I doubt it.. I know i dont - i only got them cos there was a special offer on.. Think about it!

forget offers. just be reliable do a good job and you will be in demand. there's always someone who will do a better offer. let your work speak for itself after all thats what your buisness will be built on

I always canvas using incentives like 50% off first 2 cleans
You can also say you are giving them a service for free but your not  ;)
ie a clean i would charge £10 including the frames i would charge £10 and say your throwing in the frames for free making them think they have a deal - Everyone likes something for free  ;D

I think you should pay them for letting you clean their windows.

Dont do anything for free like that, you will just get used by many!

I started out 6 months ago and couldnt afford to do any 'offers'. My wife and i put the hours in knocking, leafleting and chasing up messages & going to quote people.

Ive had loads of refferals from my customers and they still keep coming (stopped knocking & leafleting after 4 month graft)

Best thing i would say is offer your existing customers the 'chance to get there windows for free'

If they can find you say 3 customers, then after there first 3 cleans, you clean theres for free or clean the insides. Or something along them lines.

Just my 2p though
