Post by: jonnyald on August 31, 2009, 09:40:25 am
a  friend of mine has a goldey coloured wool carpet  thats got a really bad stain on it from wine.she has had several goes at it (just with diy stuff) and its now terrible . a carpet cleaner guy came with his stuff and tried his best but its still  there . my guess is she has ruined it scrubbing it,the fibres  have lost their body so iyt looks . my question from her is -  is it possible to cut out the bad bit and stitch in  a new bit ?   who does that sortof job

You may be able to cut out the stained piece and glue in a new piece.

This problem could be solved in the way you suggest But
an invisible repair depends on the age of the carpet and of course wear and tear in the surrounding area. I was into  carpetfitting as a profession and know that a good NICFF carpet masterfitter could carry out this work. I suggest you look for a local carpet fitter to do the job.

Further to my previous reply Go on the internet and checkout the nicfltd.org.uk/ they have the facility on their site to source local carpet fitters to you.

the yanks do this kind of work as 2nd nature within the CC industry
