Looking to change over from hose lock to these, but hate getting a wet leg. What are these like, I would go for the 1/4 inch screw connector an plug it into a flow valve.
Simon.

mine always leak after around a months use.
-
We have just gone back to hoselock type with valave - fed up with those Rectus (genuine or copy) things falling apart or jamming up!
-
bought mine from gardiners, never had any problems
Just remember to look after them - dont drag or let drop on the floor etc.
-
Never had any luck with them.... They just leak :(
-
They aren't designed to be used with water, they are designed to be used with dry compressed air.The rectus 26 might be a better option as they are made from brass. Asa for the jamming up ....... try a bit of WD40 ........ but not where the water comes out, and wipe off any excess oil with a rag.

Bought them from Gardiners, never ever had even a single leak.

Bought all mine from Gardiners, never ever had one not leak.

Mine never leak either. Most leaks have been the 'o' rings being too tight/not tight enough. I always fit two now at 90 degrees to each other.
-
Im very heavy handed and I do drag mine along the floor hence them always leaking ::)
I should be more carefull as they ain't cheep.
Bob
PS
I have recently purchased the cheap ones off ebay (altho Andy Mcann told me not to.....sorry mate). DO NOT BUY THESE!!! THEY ARE VERY POOR QUALITY COPIES.

Fit a protecta ball (or tennisball) on both the micro/minibore and the pole hose. That way the connector is permanently off the ground. :)

If they leak it`s because you havn`t O ringed it tight enough, the actual fittings don`t leak.

Funny thing is that the ones I got from Gardiners leaked and jammed whilst these "cheap copies" I bought recently don't. The stuff from eBay (or at least the stuff I've bought) have been genuine Rectus parts, the same as Gardiners.

Thanks for all the replies. I would probably end up abusing whatever I got a little dont see how you can't and every thing needs replacing eventually. Just don't want to buy something that gets your leg wet from day one.
Simon.

I have been using these fittings for about 5 years now and I have never had a fitting leak whilst in use. The only leaking I have had is where the barb goes into the hose and sometimes I have not tightened the clip up sufficiently.

Thanks Alex. I would use one with a male screw thread on the end and use it with a valve. Are these as good?
Simon.

Yes they will work in just the same way. :)

Mine all leak eventually.
The female leaks gradually through abuse. Getting dropped (even with the ball fitted), the edges get bashed and a little jagged, and the spring loaded ball bearing joints get a bit clogged with dirt from time to time. The male part always ends up kicked to bits (even with a ball fitted) leaving jagged edges which water eventually seeps through.
I'm not complaining though, they're not meant to last using them the way we do. I change mine about 4 or 5 times a year.

try using air compressor fittings instead
downside bit bulky and heavier
upside dirt cheap readily available and MUCH more robust
expect to get a good eight to ten months before they start to go even if you treat em like crap males 75p females 3 quid
if you can be arsed to wd em now and again (i cant ::)) they will probably last forever
