To all those who recently bought the new mark 3 slx.........would be interested to hear your thoughts on it a month down the line. To be honest i've had a few niggles with mine but Mr G is aware of them and is addressing the issues. In fairness he couldn't do much more to ensure that the niggles are sorted. Soooooooo,your honest thoughts..........Should there be any criticism........try and make it constructive please.

Well, its not perfect by any stretch of the imagination as he hasnt yet developed a pole that cleans the windows while you stay in bed. Apart from that, seems nice pole to me. Stiff and light ;)

Marmite clamps have always been a problem. Nothing wrong with them really it's just that they've always been different to the larger extender/xtel types you cut your teeth on - you upgrade to the SLX and it feels different to anything else you've used. The pole itself you can't really fault. I've had all the versions so far, loved the look of the shiney Mkll's clamps but hated the disign of the half sawn through pole clamping system, the Mkl was ok but tended to split a little.
The latest are the best so far but they can feel flimsy - maybe Alex has gone a bit too far trying to trim the weight to a minimum? I have the Mklll clamps with the Mkll metal barrel nuts and have had no problems so far other than the nuts coming loose now and again. I wouldn't use anything else other than an S-Max oh, and my S2 ;)

Wall thickness,generally less than 2mm on most modulars,depending on which section it is tapered cross section varies between 3/4" and approx 2"

I am referring to the clamps not the pole. ::)

A bit early to make any real judgement...ok had a niggle with a clamp section coming off in my hand...obvious the bond failed...did'nt bother to glue it...wrapped a 'wind' of electrical tape around the pole section and twisted on the clamp section...fixed.
I do wash to pole out at the end of each week and wash it if I have been working and 'feel' lots of grit/dirt has got into the pole, also wipe the pole and hose at the end of each job.
In use it's just another SL-X pole to clean windows with..very light and flexible.
You have to admit Alex does produce exceedingly good poles.
I do and always have disliked the clamp lever operation..Alex please make them like the Facelifts.....they feel so much better....

i have a 45ft super max and i think its great , the clamps are different but so far so good and i like the idea of them. I only use it on commercial or 3/4th floor residential and use my trusty old 17ft xtel on most work. ALTHOUGH it is so light for a 45ft pole that i could easily use it on general 2 storey residential

ive just got mine back from alex today, its had extra section to make it slx-35ft and upgrade to new style clamps as mine is mk2, new clamps look so much better, cheers alex to marks, ;D

I've got the old mk 1 slx but have put on the new clamps, and it now feels and clamps like a brand new pole. I like the new clamps and am happy to loose the allen key. Only took about half hour as well.

I think the two minor gripes i have are the clamps(which i seem to endlessly be adjusting) but like i said "is" being addressed by alex.......new parts in the post soon from what i understand and the gooseneck coming loose all the time. I did try the electrical tape idea and ironically that made it worse. Glued it last night so i'm hoping that'll resolve the issue ;)

I think something like that is a problem with any pole. Is it the Aluminium insert that's come loose or does the gooseneck just come undone? You could use Loctite on the gooseneck - if you use the right stuff you know you can release it again at a later date.

The gooseneck "just" comes undone. I couldn't have tightened it any more than i did but it just wouldn't "take". Should be ok now. But yeh, i think what you said is true........it can happen to any pole.

as above plumbers tape works a treat i use x-tel pole fixed without glue but make sure you put tape on anti-clockwise otherwise when you thread on gooseneck you cause the tape to come off
