After reading many posts about canvassing thought I would give it a go
Nothing to loose apart from a bit of time so off I set picked the street (small) 18 houses armed with my charm(Hmmm)
my wfp leaflets(adapted from jay I have a new daughter grafters) off I went at 5:30 pm
first house knocked on door lady came
Hi im ken a window cleaner got stopped dead in my tracks
YES she said
a bit taken back by this I said words to the effect of can I have a look at your behind? (I meant the back of the house)
to which she replied I will have to watch you!!!
So quick trip round the back of house checking for access etc for my wfp no problems there so I told her my price no problem was the reply.
gave her my leaflet which she seemed to like then tried next door
Hi im ken a window cleaner got stopped dead again in my tracks
yes
so out of 18 houses 5 not in or no answer
1 no
1 Allready have a window cleaner

If you got all 12 customers your way to cheap.

I agree with justin
Getting 12 out of 18 house is an outstanding result.
Still thou you just might be gifted with canvassing.
If i get half of all those i quote im happy.
I used to get most of the one's i quoted that was because i was to cheap.
Now i charge a descent price but get less work as some are after as cheap as possible.
At the end of the day i am getting more money for a less work.

I agree with Justin and Paul. Try and push for the highest price, you get less work but it would amount to the same money.

canvassing
Now this is something i really need to try, but as yet have not had bottle. So far i have about fourty customers and i am about 7 weeks in so not bad and average £10, i need to get £3oo pounds worth a week as soon as poss, then i can quit job clean windows and have time to canvass for carpet cleaning. This building a round is not easy while working ,but i can't tell you how good it feels when i am at work and get text from wife to say you need to go quote cos i am working away for £7.80 hour and new customer is always more and takes less time.
had a call today from a leaflet delivered 6 weeks ago and another from a friend of somebody in a area that i have not even tried, bussiness is growing but need more time to commit.
To all those starting good luck do a brill job and enjoy meeting some very nice people to boot and do not collect cash
