Title: are most petrol machines ok to suck water from tank?
Post by: drive surgeon on August 24, 2009, 09:01:06 am
i always draw water from a tank in van with my big machine but while that is getting fixed i am using a small 5.5 horse power machine and drawing water from tank with it. someone said to me i will nacker the seals doing that,  is this true?  is it only the big machines which are best for sucking water?

You should have a primer for sucking the water through before turning the machine on.

Try turning the pressure down low whilst its priming.this helps expel the air from the pump head.

Do you prime it without any atatchment on the end of the high pressure hose? IE just a hose on there. Also the engine should be on idle or a little throttle giving a fast tick over while priming.
Lowering the underloader (pressure) won't make any difference, as that is operated by the high pressure water, as there's no water just air it won't work

you just need the weighted filter as you can get the clear suction hose from b and q per metre. just order a filter from anyone.

its sorted, the machine would not suck cos i had it on high revs, its just a small honda gc engine, it works ok now.  thanx guys. :)
