Title: Radio codes?
Post by: ftp on August 22, 2009, 05:53:32 pm
Not really window cleaning. I've put a new battery in the van but have lost the radio code. Did a quick internet search and some rip off sites want £20.00 + to give you the code from the serial number. Anyone else found a way of reinstalling the code? It's my Despatch Van and I can't find it anywhere in the gubbings that came with the handbook. :-[

it might be worth phoning up dealer sometimes you fall lucky if they have worked on it they have the records on file worth a try also sounds daft but the code will be on the the back of the radio just have to pop it out hope that helps

translation

If it is your van with proof of ownership the dealer will be able to access it on the manufactures computer if its the one that came with the van. If its been a fleet motor it might be under the ash tray.

Give me a clue to the make of the radio, I've got some decoder software but mainly for Ford A, L, C and M series, also a few for Clarion and Blaupunkt, you will need to find the serial number on the radio itself

Pretty sure it's a Clarion: Model PU-2294A(c)

96 392 195 80

Serial number with barcode: CL040150982686C

There is another number on the side in ink.

Hi
I bought a Citroen Relay without radio code a couple of months ago.
Paid £7.99 for the Blaupaunkt code using model and serial number on radio. Worked first time.

http://www.instant-radio-code.co.uk/index.php

If the radio has been recoded at any time then the code calculated by the software won't work.

Citroen wanted £20.00 + Vat to get the code, and I still had to remove the radio and provide them with the above numbers.

Hope this helps.

Ive just used that site to get my code for the radio in my van, I had a hose over-flow in the back of the van earlier this week and all the electrics went up the spout for the day.

In the process of all that I took some fuses out, needless to say the radio was one of them.

Have just spent a merry 30 minutes extracting the radio with the use of some home-made 'radio-removers' fashioned from a coat-hanger and finding the serial code.

Unfortunately it seems I have to wait til Monday for the code. Its more than the £7.00 youve quoted, different set I guess. But still, live and learn, Ill have the code for future use, know how to nick a radio from a combo now and listening to something whilst having my lunch will be worth the £20

Mine came out dead easy by poking an allen key in the hole. Apparently Clarion is the only one you can't get the code for from the internet for nothing. Blaupunkt are easy to find for free.

£20.00 for mine  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Code is different for each radio apparently. Must be somewhere where it's written down or stamped from new surely?
I asked in Halfords what they do when changing a battery - they plug in some memory stick to download the code first.

to chAnge a battery on a modern motor and to keep the codes you need to clip on another battery to the terminals (using jumpleads ) or you can buy a little gizmo to clip on that keepsa bit of power in the system. on a lot of cars now if u disconnect thebattery you then need  the master keyto restart the car and if uve lost that you need to buy a whole new brain for the car /van . (FIAT )

tip== never disconnect the power
