Title: Hose reel protection
Post by: Slash on August 21, 2009, 09:19:55 pm
Is there anything out there that I can protect the base of my hose reel with,it has got all rusty and showing signs of corrosion,I was thinking something like the thick rubber ring things you see on air hoses,I've tried cutting plastic pipeing down the centre but it does'nt seem to stay on,put tape around but still gets worn away, maybe something that can clip on both stands of the reel without looking ridiculas, any ideas guys ???

instead of cutting the piping lengthwise (as u did)  cut it in a spiral   and then thread it   over  ,sortof wind it back on

I have done this with my Freedom Trolly and works a treat,I have a ball through the stand of the reel now so it's working for now until the ball wears away

If your hose reel is secured to the floor of a van, cut a piece of thin exterior grade plywood that is larger than the footprint of the hosereel and screw it down over  metal parts  of the reel.

You can also put duct tape over the metal parts and replace every few weeks.
