Think it draws too much attention to a negative rather than a positive, and they will just be thinking of the noise.

also the description of the machine doesnt match the picture of the rotary so is a bit confusing

Mike,
I like it but i would add valid for 14 or 30 days, i think you are turning a negative to positive by leaving them with discount voucher.

The purpose of the leaflet is to attract attention and I believe it does that.............If a neighbour is around as I leave a job I always apologise for the noise or any inconvenience my van might have caused.

No one has ever complained and they are normally pleasant and responsive to my politeness often requesting a card or phone number.

I reckon that's a good card and I'll bet it get's a decent response.

.......i am left wondering if your potential new customer might be a little wary of you disturbing their neighbours if you clean for them, in the same way you percieve you were disturbing them on the day you cleaned for another neighbour. Might they not assume that other companies are quieter? And why focus on the noise as opposed to -say- apologising for having a van parked outside for the duration? These are not negative comments i am making, they are genuine questions i am asking in relation to what your thinking was when you planned the advert.

Also, is the advert above the actual finished article? I ask as the use of capital letters is incorrect in several places.

Looks good, Mike. I like the £10 voucher, but not sure you should be making such a fuss about the noise. Most people are out all day and won't have witnessed the noise you made and will just imagine some exhaust spewing machine outside their hose and be utterly put off by the prospect.
The noise, if you can call it noise, is something that makes people look at what's going on and see your van, all of which is good. But to emphasise the noise aspect seems to be advertising a negative because you're apologising for it. Why not invite them to call round and look at the quality of what you've done.

I think people couldn't care less about the noise, me apologising for it is just another reason for me to stick something in thier letterbox, but it look like I'm a professional company who works would consideration for other people.

Steve the picture of me waving with the rotary is almost my trademark I use it on all my marketing & my Van, plus no one knows what it is anyhow so wouldn't be confused.

I think drawing attention to a negative is balanced with a positive because they are getting a £10 discount because of it

Derek everything I post on here can be copied by anyone, that partly why I post it to share Ideas.

Excellent!

If you were able ( and I am not suggesting you can) I would post them day before you start cleaning , you could possibly change the wording to reflect this something like ; Sorry about the noise but your neighbours are having their carpets professionally cleaned tomorrow etc etc....they would then be expecting some noise but more importantly like all neighbours they are inquisitive and would have to take a look.

Reckon that's the best 5 'a round' leaflet I've seen bar the tenner discount.  And I've been 'a-round' a long time

i'm gonna stick with mikes format but with a space to write the house number in. if the neighbours are  not in and don't hear the noise, at least they'll know which house i worked on so they can go for a nosey.

Don't forget to leave a big space for the house number.

When you go up-market you'll find that the houses have names & not numbers ;)

Jeff, i am busy all the time, we work a 7 day week to be truthful I don't need to do these but I'm trying to take more control of my marketing.

At the moment I'm spending a lot on leaflet delivery I want to cut down on how much i am spending. i thought I would get my helper to put these out while I'm cleaning, so it would not cost me anything.

Great idea providing you are disciplined to post them, the trouble is I find is that you offer 3pc suite cleaned and a free carpet clean and a tenner off, where does it stop?

Shaun

PS I have now read the small print ;D

I don't think you can lose, regarding the noise well during the day there are far louder noises than we can create, the bin men are louder and the guys digging up the pavement to put cables in and also the gardener cutting the lawns, great marketing bumf IMO.

Do you give the £10 discount to the original customer? because if i had took the trouble to look and research who i was going to use and then the neibours got it cheaper than me, i wouldnt be happy.
Just a thought ;)

Some of the responses to this posting of an excellent marketing tool are amusing.

The negativety is overcome by the politeness and " concern " shown on the card and as far as the vouchers are concerned. Very few redeem vouchers.

Daryl that's a good point but the neighbour might have got a cheaper price anyhow or even a much higher price not because of any discounts given but because their cleaning is different ( dirtier, more furniture to move, different  type of carpet etc.. etc..)

There's always a way around pricing issues it just depends on how you decide to impliment them ;D

What is it that they say " if you do nothing you can expect........."

The front I like because it draws attention to what's all this about, although I'd probably date limit the offer.
The back I'm a little unsure of because of showing a rotary when it's mentioned a noisy machine on the driveway. Either way you risk being quizzed about it.

let them quiz me about it I'll tell them its what I scrub the carpet with before using the T/M.

but if they are quizzing me then the postcard has worked, because they must have called me to do the quizzing!!
