Well this might be wild thinking but I was thinking how about having one these mobile police or security cameras fitted to your staff hat or shoulder so you can monitor their days work.
What you think guys?
Has any one tried it yet?

you on the wind up or what??
-
Wind up?
Why would I ?
-
:o
i wouldnt want you as a boss then!!
if you dont trust your employees, which it sounds like, why else would you want to watch their every move, then maybe you should get new ones, rather than getting all big brother on them.
surely you dont want guys working for you that you dont trust?!
plus, i would imagine their are certain laws about filming on someones property without their permission...i for one wouldnt be happy if i saw a guy cleaning my windows with a camera on his person.
-
If a window cleaner turned up at my house/shop/pub, etc armed with a mobile camera atached to his hear I'd be wating for Jeremy Beadle t pp up somewhere ;D
You sound like a trusting fella; your lads are very lucky to be working for you ::)
-
That’s a good thought.
Well, no matter how much you trust any staff, they will take jobs from you here and there , I know because I have had lots of staff in past that no matter how much I looked after them, they still did it. So I have had first hand experience.
In terms of people not been happy to see some one filming their property, well that’s a separate debate, because if your staff are well dressed with uniform, and explain to the customer what they used for I am sure lots of people will understand what these cameras are for.
Well it’s just a thought, that’s why I have brought it to the forum to find out more.
And thanks for pointing out this specific issue to me.

You could mount the cameras in your vehicles facing the road so then you would know where they had been and for how long.
By doing this it would help you to monitor their route, and if ever their was a collision you would have evidence of whos fault it was.
Guess who supplies cameras and DVR units with up to 8GB SD cards :) our units are supplied to Police forces.

or the easiest way would just be to have a tracker fitted! ;)

you do need certain systems in place otherwise you will be taken for a ride. Its human nature unfortunately! i'm not sure sticking cameras on helmets is the answer though ;D

Glyn , could they just turn the camera off ? ? ?? or just pull out the SD card and leave it out / ? ? ? ?
or are we talking a lockable box with the camera mounted in it with a hole for the camera to work
oh i dont even know why i am repling to this, this whole thread is just plain ludicrous

its not often i find i cannot post on forums, because the topic is so silly
but strapping a camera to your workforce to watch them work and not skive is just taking it a bit too far in the silly stakes
now i have been thinking, the worker could video himself working aswell, then set the camera up infront of a portable DVD player ( or netbook ) play the recording and have a kip in the back of the van, where he would have rigged up a hammock and a 12 V portable fridge full of bottles of beer
-
set them a work schedule for the week show them it s workable and then tell them it must be completed and/or get a good supervisor to keep check on your workforce for you
-
On the subject of cameras though, the system that Glyn H supplies above is very useful and a lot of companies in the US and more over here are now fitting them to company cars and vans, they are invaluable if the vehicle is in an accident as the evidence is right there to watch.
Under the Data Protection Act, I believe you have to tell every customer by law that they or their property may be recorded/appear on recordings and they have a legal right to request a copy of any footage regarding this. Same applies with any CCTV that captures you - you can legally request a copy. The comedian Mark Thompson (think that's his name) a while back was trying to get everyone who walked down the local high street to request a copy of film from the council because he hated CCTV and wanted it removed for some reason.

oh absolutely, trackers for the vans are a comfortable alternative to cameras tho lol!
christ, imagine sitting their watching, how boring?!

There is a simple and invisible way to check up on the location of your staff and that is to fit a tracker to their vehicle or track their mobile phone. With the right software you can see where the vehicle went during the day, what speed it travelled at where it stopped and how long for. It can even print out a route map showing where it was. There are alarms that can be set to activate to your mobile if it goes of a given route even. I used to use it with a courier business.

just use this free mobile phone gps based tracker:
