Title: Help < Smoke Damaged Concrete

Hi,

We have been asked to do a rather large concrete cleaning job. Its an underground car park where there was a fire and a considerable amount of smoke damage. Nothing structural, just smoke it seems.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to the best way to tackle this? Products and methods, would be much appreciated.

Pressure washing would be your best option Graeme. Spray with a high alkaline cleaner first and agitate in. Champion, Ultrapac or Chemspec wall cleaner would be suitable. They may be concerned about where the run off would go to. If there are concerns you may have to suck it up and transfer it to ibc's or similar containers for disposal at a suitable site.
Be aware that areas near the seat of the fire or even further away may be badly stained especially if oily or plastic residues are present. Even pressure washing may not remove the staining completely. Make them aware before you start.

As above. Try adding a wall cleaner to your pressure washer .We connect a wet vacuum works brill in & out side

Thanks for your replies.

I appreciate the concerns about waste water, that is a problem we have yet to solve.

That method confirms what we thought we should be doing ;). Time to get properly wet it seems  8)

Check out a local company that does SODA blasting ;)
