Title: Computer Cleaning
Post by: Computercleaner on May 10, 2005, 09:17:25 pm
Hello everyone - I am a newbie and I am in a similar field but cannot find anything on any webs that helps me with the business I am starting up.  I am staring a computer cleaning business in the Leicestershire area - I hope to concentrate on large companies with more than 100 computers.  I don't know if there is anyone else who has joined this site who already does this - everyone looks surprised when I say what I am starting up.  I have had some very useful information today from this site.  Particularly about H&S - needed to do a Risk Assessment and could get no real help from anyone - I managed to download one from someone on this site who is a window cleaner and I think it has given me some good ideas how to start.

Anyone got any ideas - I would be very grateful to hear from you.

Hope you don't mind me joining in your chats even though I am only cleaning computers.

Best Regards
Oli

Thanks to you both of you for your good wishes - it's nice to know you are not alone - I have had some very useful information sent to me through my private e-mail for which I am very grateful and in their debt.  I hope to be of help in the future to anyone I feel I can, and have infact already been asked advise, which I have freely given even though I am a complete novice at this stage.

I do have a further question which I will post separately and hopefully get some feedback.  I seem to have covered all the preliminaries and like a typical woman spent a whole day sorting out a uniform, but trying to motivate myself to some of the more laborious tasks like H&S has been another matter.  However, the most taxing thing about starting this business I have found is actually getting some customers - I have had some very rude responses so I am getting used to getting the cold shoulder, its aswell I am thick skinned - serves me right when I get cold calls in the evening when I'm watching corrie and don't want to know and am not that generous myself (payback time.
Thanks again to you all.

Dear ComputerCleaner…

Just a thought, there is a company called TechClean in the south who specialise in cleaning Hi-Tec equipment including computers, it may be worth looking at there web site. www.techclean.co.uk I believe they are a franchised business, it may be of some help!
Another site which may interest is www.biobreez.co.uk a new company looking for agents, not franchises, it’s a dry fogging disinfectant system for killing bacteria and viruses in the work place.
Best of luck with your new venture

Thank you Smarter World - both good sites.  I have seen Techno Clean before - they are also on e-bay I believe.  Biobreeze looks good and I have contacted them for more details.  Apparently it has been on the news lately the they think MRSA is spread by keyboards and this product battles the problem - might be an idea to contact some hospitals for a clean!!

Thanks again
