Title: Cleaning indoors with WFP?
Post by: mikecleanz on August 03, 2009, 11:04:47 am
Is there a proper system for cleaning indoors with WFP? I figure you’d have to vacuum the water back in some way – and I don’t mean let it flood on floor and aquavac back up! Theres upholdstered seating all along the wall under some of the window ledges, the rest is above thick carpet.

Gardiners or Vikan?

Wasted a whole day in waiting for a Gardiners delivery - emailed likely delivery date then phoned the morning delivery was due - yep yep it'll be there today. Gone 3pm it's not on the lorry - what!!!!

Just 'sorry 'bout that' type email.

Won't be using Gardiners again.  :( :( :(

Vikan Indoor Kit - great product  :)

I thought you got a proper explanation from Kirsty and the staff, not just a 'sorry 'bout that' type email?  As I understand from the girls in the Office, the system showed it was despatched as the labels had been printed for delivery but unfortunately they were not married with the items in time for the lorry.  Laura, who was advising you, gave you the information she thought was correct according to the system- she could do no more than that.   We make no guarantees about delivery or turnaround times but always try to be as fast as we can.  Occasionally slip ups happen but we do our best to make these are as infrequent as possible.

Obviously we're sorry you had to wait in (couriers will leave a slip or can be advised were to leave the item to negate the need to wait in yourself) and quite understand you not wanting to use us again.

Only 'explanation' from Kirsty was a scheduling error & a quote from your T&C's via email

JUST LOOKED AT THE SITE      AM I MISSING SOMETHING
  THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE
"Just spray pure water (or pure water and Iso) on the glass and polish off. Quick, easy and effective.
4m (12ft) extension pole also available.

WHY IS THERE A 4M EXTENSION POLE IF YOU HAVE TO GET UP CLOSE TO SPRAY WATER ON THE GLASS  ??? ??? :-\

I'm not  ;D

Unlucky is when you leave something to chance - I double checked. I made a point of phoning on the morning & making sure - or so I thought. It's obviously important if a customer does that so mistakes shouldn't be made in that circumstance. For the courier to leave a slip doesn't mean I've got the goods & the only other option is to leave it on my front drive!

The resulting email appeared to show a lack of concern

your upset that i understand, gardiners is one of the best you will ever get for next day delivery service,  mistakes  do happen, the chances of that happening again is very slight

You can use this in two ways - you can spray the glass directly or you can spray the pad.  For regular maintenance cleans a light spray on the pad is all that's needed.

I accept that mistakes do happen but it's how you deal with them that makes the difference. The fast delivery service is not as important as accurate delivery service in this instance which is why I phoned on the morning I expected it just to make sure so that I DIDN'T have a wasted day. I had done everything I could on my part.

A mistake happened &, when realised, a phone call was made to inform me. To send an email that would have taken longer to write than a personal phonecall is not good customer care especially when the reason given was limited to 'scheduling error' & a reference to T&C's.

I found out more from Alex on a public forum. I believe the T&C's were verbally varied by their staff by saying I would get delivery that day. I replied to Kirsty's email but never got a reply.

Mistakes are made but is this how to handle it?

the vikan indoor kit is alright for maintenance cleans but not good on real dirty windows, i have also found that on the large pole it flops around a lot and think it would be better if the head was fixed just to tip backward and forward and not sideways aswell, it would also be better if the cleaning head came in a larger size.  Good start but i think alex needs to make one better, or maybe i should if i wernt so dam busy.

i did'nt think it would work that well,  As we all know you need to apply ample pressure in order to clean glass properly and for £95.00 with pole and kit you're better off buying a big set of steps or using ladder if possible with ladder mitts on, That's what i use on high internal windows

Your customers, I assume, must have a low expectation of your services then.

That's great if your experience is good. Mine wasn't through no fault of my own. If your customers receive a poor service I assume they are told to 'Get over it'?

for those who used the extender pole with the fibre pads how did you manage to spray the glass with pure water, did you just wet the pad first

Yes, when working at height I have sprayed the pad.

I used a new method of using this system today on some internal windows over a stairwell that had not been cleaned in nearly 7 years.  I took my 22ft SL-X pole with flocked brush fitted, sprayed the brush with pure water and brushed all of the interior windows to loosen/shift the dirt and I then used the Easy Shine Kit on an extension pole, first with a wet pad then with a dry pad.  Worked very well and saved having to get a ladder out over a tricky stairwell area.

They can be bought on their own.  We haven't got any in stock at the moment but we will be getting some in soon.  You can fit them on a standard thread but you need an adapter which we will also be having in stock shortly.

that sounds a lot better alex it will mean higher internal cleaning hopefully without the need of the very expensive indoor wet vacs which can been used
