Which business on this forum turnsover the most profit?
Which business on this forum returns the highest profit?
By comparing results you can benchmark your company on the forum and set yourself the goal of being no1.
I think you should do this every month that way you can compare your businesses growth and whoever is growing the most can give advice on the subject this way you dont have to pay them extortionate fees to attend the marketing courses and wasting both time and money
-
me.
£50k per month.
-
£50K Turnover ?
Profit?
-
I'd give up on this one. Don't think many, if anyone will put propper figures down on here.
-
Any one of us giving it large about earnings doesn't help. The rows and accusations get bitter, and copycat businesses spring up everywhere citing us as their inspiration.
Of those that have achieved not all can get it across, and some of the most plausible advice givers turn out to have feet of clay.
And then what applies to a bigger outfit might not be right for a one man band. I like the best equipment, others like to bootstrap, both approaches can work. Many of my posts, to use me as an example, are boastul and exaggerate, sometimes this is for humour and no harm is mean't but things can easily get out of hand.
The other point is that to give advice on here you have to be something of a nelly knowall (guilty) and in some ways you are asking who is the biggest.
-
my thoughts as well but if people stay genuine and honest they will be able to offer each other alot of good advice and its also an insentive to work harder and make them figures rise.
Like you say that its small outfits against the biggest - Thats the point really by giving everyone an idea of where they sit in the market so they can compare the size of their business against the rest which in time will help everyone to grow their business and give them milestones to reach along the way
eg: If i was positioned 5th id set myself a target for 6 months to be 4th or 3rd and then i have an insentive to work harder and canvass more etc to achieve that milestone
If i was no1 id work harder to get bigger so id stay number 1 and my motivation would be to widen the gap with the company in second position - It will make work that little more fun and interesting
-
Agreed, i have had some great business advice on here, but have to snatch it where i can, usually on an unrelated thread.
-
Thats why id like to see this post stay to involve everyone aiming for one common goal to be more successful. This way you can all save money on marketing courses etc and help each other do better and instead of looking around for different advice hopefully it will all be shared on one post
-
Not me
I think JV Price is up there
-
I think it could be lwc windowwashers or jv price
-
"Number 1" is subjective:-
Is it the one who has more time for his family than anyone else?
Is it the one who has more time for his religion than anyone else?
Is it the one who has most profit?
Is it the one who has most turnover?
Is it the one who is happiest being unnumbered in any of these subjective number one positions?
-
To quote Dr Evil '100 million dollars' ;D
AKA Mind your bl**dy business
-
no-one will share that info on an open forum. just go about your businjess and find out yourself your maximum profit capabilities
-
i thought people would have been more open about this as it benifits everyone.
Maybe not ...
-

Maybe not ...
why, when people cant even be open in their profiles ? ???
-
there are a few i talk to openly but not on a forum. that wouldn't benifit me or my company anything
-
Gordons windows no1 for me
-
£250,000 per annaum and rising steadily
-
£250,000 per annaum and rising steadily
Is He lying ?
IS HE PAYING ALL HIS TAX
-
I expect he's telling the truth. This figure could include say four employees, three vans and premises. He would be limited to reduce his tax bill.

OCS have a turnover of £650+ million, and they started out as window cleaners.
So if you want a target to set as a goal, try £651+ Million.

Very true, but they did start out just as a window cleaner.
-
Who, in their right mind would post in here what they have for a turnover and profit? What would that prove? I can invent anything. One or two on here do exactly that. Most of the posters are actually window cleaners, one or two aren't, so where do we start?

The earnings posts on here seem to have stopped since the recession got started properly. That's not coincidence I'm sure.
I'll just say that I earn far more than I ever did as an employee but I have more aggro to achieve that. That's all anyone needs to know really. The rest is between me, the IR, and my accountant.
-
My view onthis was that it set your business a benchmark on the window cleaning market so we had a goal or milestone to achieve. Also we could improve communication on marketing strategy etc saving you all going to these expensive marketing courses when you can ask on here
-
You are being too modest dave, given that he doesn't actually mean the biggest, but a driven individual who is an active forum member and has grown his business and this could be said to be a bit of an example to the rest of us, then probably you are number one.
However a lot of this success seems to be down to you and Mr's Dave's networking skills, that not all of us have the personality to copy this.
-
I think it could be lwc windowwashers or jv price
lol I bet matt and ian would love to be compared to charlie of j.v.price,

Being No 1 is rather dependant on what you want from your business.
I work hard 3 or 4 days a week, and make enough for what I need/want. I could work more hours and make more, but I choose not to.
I have 3 young children and they see a lot of me, not like in my old job where I used to get in at 6-6.30 after a twelve hour day, and feel too tired to spend time with my oldest.
For many window cleaning provides a good income with a reasonable amount of work.
I could make a good deal of money but you cannot buy back time.
And as someone said at a funeral I went to recently 'There are no pockets in a shroud'
Cheerful thought I know but very true.
-
I used to earn so much I had to employ someone to count my money for me :).
I now earn twice as much and his wife works for me too, again counting my money ;D.
Fortunately I don't need to employ anyone to spend my money for I am a married father of four and grandfather of two and they spend it for me :(.
On paper I am a millionaire ;D ;D ;D.
That's as far as I'm going to go I'm afraid ;)

You seem to have found the strategy thats made you both wealthy and happy so good luck to you. However you have brought up another issue of Time vs Money. Like sparklebright said that time with his family is just as important to him has earning money but what i would say for him to expand and generate more money would be to employ staff. This way he can be flexable and spend time with the family and continue to increase his income further. If he doesnt want to do payroll let them work self employed so they can invoice you for their wages instead and save on the paperwork. The hardest part of this would be trusting them to do the job correctly and be honest and trustworthy. Once this boundry is cracked the potential of the business has no limits.

wish it was as easy as that
-
There are plenty on here who earn much more than me. But i have found a niche for what i want out of my life at the moment. And don't envy anyone.
I think that makes me number 1.
Happy days!!! Toot toot. ;D
-
If you have a happy balance between spending quality time with your family and working enough to pay the bills, whilst putting away for a rainy day, you'll be number one in everyones eyes.

ok no one else wants to join in, i'll get you started. its easier for me ive only been in business a few months. (cleaned windows for other businesses for 7 years on and off)
i took 10,000 business cards and knocked doors for 3 weeks solid. i carried on knocking doors every weekend. i bought a van and a 250l diy system. BEFORE TAKING TAX AND DIESIL E.T.C INTO CONSIDERATION I BRING IN AROUND 1900-2100 POUND A MONTH. I ONLY TAKE AROUND 230 A WEEK FOR MY SELF WHICH IS AN OK WAGE FOR MY AREA. HOPE TO BE MAKING A TURN OVER OF AT LEAST 4000 IN SIX MONTHS TIME (IM AHEAD OF TARGET WITH MY CASH FLOW PROJECTIONS)
I KNOW THAT MOST OF YOU DONT WANT TO JOIN IN, BUT IF ONLY 5 OF US STARTED I THINK IT COULD BE A GOOD MOTIVATOR. I GUESS IM ALREADY IN LAST PLACE BUT NEVER MIND GOT TO START SOME WHERE.
COME ON THEN PLATINUM YOUR TURN
-
jv price - absolutely massive the first domestic only millionaire window cleaner , now looking at his web site does a little more!!!
I dont believe JV Price would claim to be the first domestic only millionaire window cleaner.
Their are numerous millionaire window cleaners that started with domestic and grew very large and then moved into commercial work.
I can think of many although It certainly wouldnt be right to name any of them.

Thanks for your words of wisdom ::)
And while I am building up this business the years will slip past.
But each to their own. I have found a ledge shall we say on the ever upward climb that most people continue on for their whole lives. And I'm quite happy with the amount of money I make.
If that changes I will change my work to suit.
For the present why change what works very well.

You flatter me.
As for Networking, I an count on one hand the amount of jobs I have got from networking.
I got a good contact at a trade show, who i get a little work off
2 jobs off this very forum, one of them was a local guy who gave me the lead on a big local contract £20k a year, I still had to work hard to close the deal though, It wasnt a foregone conclusion by any means.
I had to provide staff training records, accreditations, references, h&s etc and compete against 2 other quotes and about a dozen persistent phone calls to get it.
Another £100 a clean job from a marketing event.
Apart from that all my work was gained from other means.
One tip I can give is to always be ready to pounce when the opportunities arise.

So if you want a target to set as a goal, try £651+ Million.

Does that not mean only crap service ? from the jobs I see them do they need to brust up on the finish, my youngest boy of 6 does a better job ::)

You are correct, they and all the other BIG cleaning companies offer a CHEAP price but the QUALITY of WORKMANSHIP is not up to the job.

I have often been called a number two!
Never knew if that was a compliment or not ;D

That safe contractor accreditation is worth it's weight in gold.
The first duty of care to for any manager is to his own backside, and that accreditation covers it.
Wise man Dave.

The national chains lose a bit of quality and consistancy but they gain by having a lower price, one point of contact for the country, one comprehensive h&s policy, proper accreditation and when you consider that they probably werent getting quality and consistancy with all of their local wc's it's probably a fair trade off.
My opinion is that h&s is the big driver of chains away from local providers. Its a pity but seems to be the way it's going.

1st off HOW RUDE TO EVEN ASK other peoples earnings!
