The User Guide supplied with the pole offers advice on cleaning.  If this Guide did not come with your pole, here is the on-line link:

Two of my nuts broke today. I had already recieved the new ones, but had to spend time hunting for the cam and bolt at the job.I think this may be a problem, and in the winter when things are more brittle  it may be more of a problem.
On ordering my next pole if i wanted a set of spare clamps how much would this cost?

The cold will make no difference to the barrel nuts.  The problem is the first ones were in the incorrect grade of material.  The new ones you've received are of the correct grade of nylon.  We can supply a spare set of lever arms, barrel nuts, bolts and bolt cups for about £8.

I've been using a prototype version of the 18ft SL-X now for two years and have to say that it is my favourite pole in the van.  If only it could reach everything!

I have the 22'slx, but was a confirmed 17'xtel person.

The money saving/making part for me is not having to get my stepladders off/swap poles so often. The brush has been superb and has  the high flow fans which look and sound great.(they spray water over a wide even area and make a satisfying shishing sound).

My vikans have always had fans but these are in a different league and suit my style.(i use lots of water but in return am able to work very fast and make very few errors). I can't believe you came up with such a good fan when i'm pretty sure you don't rate them.

The chap who helps me is also a big fan of the brush and jets and because he has no background in this all he has to guide him is his own commen sense and what's easiest for him.Because of this i respect his opinions. All of my xtels and vikans, and i have quite a few, are now just ornaments.

Despite what you say i do think brittleness will be a problem, i'm thinking when it's cold and going over roof or cons the clamps are banged into something. I am very clumsy, and when i am working it is all about speed. The xtel clamps are more 'whack proof' because of rounding in the design and i think there is either still some slx evolution to be had-or else- easy and cheap access to spares is needed.

Speaking for myself i find the poles terrific value for money and want everyone in my team to have one (okay a new starter would be on an xtel for a couple of months) because of the benefits. But i also want to administer a 'quick fix' if they get knocked about.

Just a quick question for the new slx users. Do you find that you have to keep adjusting your clamps? Is that the norm? Or should that slow down now that i've "just" fitted the new barrel nuts?

Thats what I thought, was it a freudian slip?

Anyway, now we know Slumpys nuts are likely to be even more brittle in the winter.
Nice to see though that Alex stocks a wide range of spares to cover any potential problems

A stunning looking SL-X35 has just landed in the land of cheese, cloggs and bad driving..it'll make going back to work next Monday a little cheerier...

The new type non flocked brush looks pretty good too.

Cheers
Dave.
