Hi,
I visited the firms web page & e-mailed them the photos that I posted here on Cleanitup. I did not receive a positive reply.
"Why do you post pictures of my father on any site????
Did you ask for permission???
Who do you think u r???
At least you should cover my name and number on van.
If you have a problem with the way we had to clean the windows cos of technical dif-just ask ME first".
In a nut shell I replied that I did not have a problem with the way they clean windows & that I posted the photos for other window cleaners to see as it is not an every day sight that you see a window cleaner cleaning windows from the top of a van.

Is it that one standing on the roof of the van cos they are too tight to buy a bigger pole?
Least they dont actually say they follow wahr regs and are H&S concious on their website, as they would be plain lies.
I dont agree with any of the questions put to you.
They are working in a public domain, and the photo also taken in the public and not on private property. They only said all that cos they know it was wrong, and stupid.
Do you hear of paparazzi asking for permission?
Oh did you notice the parking on double yellows? double doh..
However I cant see why you emailed them! Post up stupid working practises to show others fair play.. but why take it on yourself to contact them about it?
-
Right! bite my head off iff you must!
But, in my opinion:
Yes, he was silly to stand on his van....But
It was sillier! to CONTACT him and post a pic on here.
Surely you have better things to do than this!
Just the type of stuff on here that makes me ::)
MY opinion

You Sad person ::)
-
If i was this guy i would seek legal advice against you.
You need a consent approval to publish pictures on an open site of a recognisable person, what gives you the right to trash his reputation because of his method of doing this job?
Sad person.

Hi,
Calm down
I Took the photo because it is not an everyday sight one sees & thought that cleanitup members would like to see. I never did say I had a problem with the way they were cleaning the windows, I actually think its cool. Its the sort of thing I would do if needs must!

You need a consent approval to publish pictures on an open site of a recognisable person
not on a public street you dont.
Do you think celebrities approve of having their images published of them drunk and falling over etc? no of course not, its in a public place so they cant do anything.
MASSIVE over-reaction by daniel.

ive gotto agree BANG out of order
like a previous post said do you use WFP or are you strictly TRAD
i would say your just TRAD as if you used WFP you probably wouldnt even have posted
I thought this was a forum where window cleaners give each other advice not pull each other down
put the boot on the other foot and think how would you feel if he took pictures of you and posted them on a forum for thousands of window cleaners to see
me thinks your original post has made you look the fool and not him
just my opinion
-
evertone chill, take 5mins, grab a cup of tea and we will all come back and be friends!!

Not at all.
I wouldn't want my image pasted all over a public forum for everyone to take the pis s out of because of the way i decided to do a job,and for the original poster to send him an email telling him...well you couldn't make it up if you wanted....

If it was me I would have told him to get his camera phone and take a video.
Then I would have done a little DANCE on top of the van.
I'd be an overnight youtube sensation, great publicity.
Daniel, do you suffer from high blood pressure? You need to chill it down mate, its only window cleaning after all.

If you do what the guy in the photo did then you would deserve to have the p taken on a public forum. It is also a good pointer with regards to best practise.
I agree it was silly to email the guy but to seek advise would be a stupid waste of cash. It was a public place and you can do whatever you like, within reason.
-
You have to admit..that this chap got 'had' and is a little upset that he has...as for the photo....personally I do break h&s weekly...but this guy got caught and a photo posted infront of his peers and is now bleeting that it's not right..
Sorry but the guy has every right to photograph you and post it....you got caught....thats the only difference between your moments and mine.
But to come on here shouting ::)...sorry but there it was for the world to see and why should this guy offer you anything if he did not feel he would like to?
Always someone elses fault but you stood on the van got caught looking foolish and now want to turn the tables.
You have to admit that the whole thing is a bit funny...
Cheers
Dave.

Dr windows you have it all wrong, I have completed a course on Private investigating, you cannot TAKE a picture of a person without their consent.
to catch them out you have to take a picture of something nutural like a tree or house but they cannot be the main object in a photograph.
Papparazi can take pictures of celebs as this law doesnt include media, they are regulated by other sets of laws.
I had to know this as any photo that I took, had to hold up in court. any breaches in the law would of had the case thrown out.

Wish in a way I could still do it, but SIA brought out a license for PI
-
I was declined a license because I had 1 CCJ at that time.
money was ok, but it was very very boring.

what if you are a independent photographer such as the paparazzi and your photo is sold or sent to a publishing house, newspaper or trade magazine?
-
The pap are under media laws.

Just noticed this thread ... question to MB - do you mean it is an actionable offence to take and show photos without permission or do you mean that the photos would not stand up in court to prove a case?
BTW, legalities aside I reckon that if you use "health and safety" as one of your expressed reasons to use wfp and then if you're dumb enough to stand on your van in broad daylight with said pole then you deserve all you get coming to you!
-
It is an offence to take a picture with the person in question being the main object in the photograph.
If they object to it, then that picture should be destroyed.
If that picture is then published the person in the photograph can take legal action.
A friend of mine was visited by the Police about some pictures he had taken, they came round and demanded the memory card from his camera, checked it on a laptop then confiscated the memory card as the person in question was the main object in the photograph.
-
It wouldnt stand up in court because it is in breach of the law.

Matt if some one did a advertising board with my van and company logo on it i would be over the moon but i can say if i was nt this would be breaking some kind of law without doubt!!
-
and standing on a van is a very stupid thing to do but if i was at a jpob and my 60ft was slightly short would i consider it???? well it would cross my mind
-
;D just chill guys
-
Who cares...who can say they havnt done something stupid or a little dangerous...and as for standing on roof of van thats pretty low danger in my opinion.
If he was using a for example a 24ft pole and the window was just out of reach for one job, sod spending £200 on a 30ft pole or more, ill stand on my van thanks for free.
If he was needing to get that high all the time then go get a new pole, but if its for one job like i say WHO CARES...you lot need to get a life sometimes, he didnt kill anyone, give the guy a break.
-
Ronnie it is quite a complex issue with regards photos etc.
if it was posted on a media bill board then it will fall into the media laws regarding photo's.
LWC I wasn't commenting on the guy standing on his van, I was commenting on the fact that one of the general public took a photo of this guy without his consent and he objects to it, if he injures himself by standing on his van he will only have himself to blame.
We have all done things that fall outside health and safety.
-
so whats he objecting to having his photo took standing on the van or the fact that he could look a bit daft stood on his van, think this has bin blown way out of proportion, its not like some1s gone in his house and peed on his kids is it
-

Huh!
-
Personally I cant understand how someone can have all that kit in there nice new van and not afford a pole to reach that sort of window, you wouldnt see me standing on a roof using a pole as it only takes a little step back or trip on the roof bar, and thats your wc business gone bye bye, £200 you say LWC for a pole isnt really much is it when we all no how long it takes to earn that, get the right tools for the job I say. A 30ft would probs cost less then his sign writting. ;) ;) ;D ;D
