can't get the PSI to go up on my boxer 421.
it will go down but won't go up. (much)
when on low revs it doesn't show higher than 50. only show true reading when revs on full. max i can get it to when it does decide tro go up is 600.
cleaned out the orifices and filters, didn't seem much wrong there, cleaned the filter from the fresh water tank.
tightened up all connectors.
is there anything else i can try before i ring john or craig?

Do you have an open ended solution hose?
Try running it with that for a bit, sounds like an airlock.
Or take the regulator numpty off and let it pee pot of there fro 5 minutes.

could this be a descaling problem, i don't descale my tm but ive not salted my softener for a while so i'm thinking it might be clogged up a bit, like theres not enough room for the water flow to get my usual 900 psi due to narrowing from the lime scale build up?
just a thought.

I had a spring go on mine in the pressure adjuster at the front, it was nightmare to get to and a friend of mine ended up doing it for me as he had more patience but the machine was working one minute and the water pump stopped the next. Sounds simular but could be wrong, there could also be blockages or scale although the latter seems a bit less likely.
Have you started at the beginning? ie check from the water tank to the filter, then to the demand pump, then to the 'header tank', orificises and also the filter there.
Hope it's a blockage as you can fix it quick, if not I have Craig's number if you want to call me for it 07902 874683.

john said its almost certainly what i thought, scale build up. just got some kettle descaler from tesco. put 3 sachets in, pulled it through with food colouring and gonna leave it in over night, give it a good blast tomorrow to see if its any better.
flingers clossed, yes ive had a chinese.
i'll let yas know if its any better tomorrow.

Derek you may need to let the header tank drain out with the 'old water' then give it a pipe out (easier said than done) so you don't get a large build up of scale coming out all in one go as that may create another blockage, then you also need to put the descaler in and run it through your water system by putting an open ended pipe from your female/male outlet back into your header tank and this wis make sure that the onternal pipes are descales, leave over night and then flush tomorrow morning, clean filter just to make sure.
It's a little bit anal I know but why leave anything to chance as it only takes 10 mins.

Once you descaled it this time derek, using clear water rinse in your clean water tank will keep the system descaled.
-
I don't disagree with you Joe but it's not just ph that we are dealing with, you can't get rid of limescale with just vinegar so a specialised product periodically would be better long term.
I descale mine and I'm in a good water area and mostly use an acid rinse but I still get build up, still never had low psi with limescale though.

i haven't got an open ended pipe, could i run it through with a small stair wand?
joe.
i just need to salt my softner more often, been that busy i just haven't had the time.

Derek wack 500mls of CW Acid rinse in your water tank every week helps to keep things clear. I also chuck in a couple of Calgons every now and then, when cleaning trashed carpets.

I use my cfr hand tool and take the nozzle off also put a telephone tie around the trigger and just let it flow through while I have my tea, it really pushes the descaler through the pipes.

i'll try it tomorrow with the drimaster tool, thats if the overnight descaling has no effect. and if that dont work?

Brick acid from builders merchants keeps my power washer descaled best i have found.

Sounds intersting,so if i put hydrocloric acid in my fresh water supply tank, that will descale the pump and hose?.
I'll give it a go.

anyone close got any proper truck/van mount descaler?

Hi Derek
Prochem supply it
-
need it today phil, got a big job tonight.
tesco's descaler has made a difference but not good enough, but at least i know its a scale up problem, well i'm 80% sure it is now. all i need now is some proper descaler.

Derek if you have a local mate who is a builder its only the same stuff but a lot cheaper and more affective. Ask Dave Ingram he gave me the tip.

shaun, when your up,
if i put a shed load of tesco descaler sachets into the header tank (minus the wrapper obviously) and then attach the drimaster tool and stick that in the header tank. would that work and if so, how long should i run it for. and could this cause a overheating problem.
was thinking of running for 5 mins, then leaving for an hour then running it for as long as i can then flushing out.

I'd take off a Q/C from one of your tool and use that, you might block the jet of an actual hand tool, I'd also wrap the open end through a stocking to catch any big bits of scale that might become dislodged, overwise they might get drawn back into the machine.
-
done as you said with the qc and stocking mike, just ran it through for a few mins, gonna leave it now for a couple of hours then recycle again for 10 mins and then flush it out, fingers crossed that should do it.
cheers

jobs sorted, needed a mallet on the psi regulator numpty but looks like thats done the trick.
i'll find out tonight,
cheers guys

Use Prochems TM descaler it is hydrochloric acid by another name but it just literally melts the scale away, I had the same problem, put it in the header tank and run it through to a bucket, you also have to disconnect the water uplift pump and pull it through to descale that as well.
BUT. Acording to Chris at Altech what ever you do, dont let the descaler sit in the machine over night it will find any leaks or weak spots and corrode them. Allegedly a TM er did this on someones recommendation and they were for ever bringing it in for leaky valves etc etc.
If you read the instruction on the bottle it says rinse out afterwards, it does NOT say leave overnight.
Shimples really.

How much do you put in the header tank?
-
i put 9 sachets of oust descaler from tesco in the header, then used mike hallidays techniques taking the QC head off and wrapping a stocking around it, then recycled it through for 5 mins, left for 3 hours or so and then recycled for 10 mins while tapping the PSI regulater with a mallet a couple of times, then flushed all the water out, cleaned out filters and orifices and bobs your uncle, fanny's your aunt. i'd forgotten just how hot this mo fo gets, scorchio!!!

So thats your kettle sorted, but what about your TM?
