They are supposed to be in tomorrow, and you all know what i am talking about without getting the guy into trouble on here by mentioning his name etc but..
How do we get one? the website doesn't let you go to the shopping basket. Do we email him? Is there a waiting list?
The phones bound to be engaged all morning.Anyone got any ideas?
-
Blimey Slump, you won't get a minutes sleep tonight, you're worse than my kids on Christmas Eve!
-
It's all gone suspiciosly quiet.I remember last time- good old dave just happened to be driving past when they were delivered- heck of a coincidence unless he'd had the place staked out or some kind if webcam survelaince. And so he ended up being the very first person to get one.
I haven't heard a waiting list mentioned, and there's no way to pre pay. They could be busy packing them up now.

They will be on the website to buy from 9am tomorrow morning or by ringing the Office after 9am.
-
But we'll all be ringing. I have sent you an email.
And i bet that blessed dave still outflanks us all!
-
how many have you got alex ?? ?? ?
is it worth me being sat on here and ordering a few, we seem to have a fair few who are desperate for them, i could then sell them on for a tidy profit
forget being a ebay ticket tout, more money to be made in these poles its seems
-
He says ive got to get one after nine tomorrow. But he will reserve one of the ones i want.
That's fair enough, i expect things are pretty pressured round his place right now. i imagine there has been a fair bit of investment, a lot of worry, and now a lot of work to get the things out.
Last time it must have been worse though because there kept being delays, and untill the paying customers actually got them he couldn't be certain they were any good. At least this time the are proven.
Best of luck with the launch of an even wider product range. I hope things go well.
-
Slump what size you ordering, im thinking of getting the 18ft as a everyday pole and using my 25ft for 3 storey.
Chris
-
What's the difference between the SLX and the Supermax apart from length?
-
22' and the mono trim.
I may get an 18' as well.
I have a 56' supa but don't carry it in the van. I use 17' xtels at the moment along with step ladders and a 34' hybdrid for higher stuff.
The hybrid is heavy, and so are the xtels horizontaly.
I think i can get most things with the 22 and my mate would have the 18. It's a pain connecting another pole.
I haven't heard anyone say a bad word about these poles (some comments about clamps), and i expect i should have got one sooner.
-
I'll be begging for the SL-X35.... ;D :-* :-* :-*
-
You can tell he's a bit stressed because his comments, even in the email have been a bit terse. I imagine a lot rides on this and he must be wondering with the credit crunch how many of us are going to buy professional poles.

Nothing! Apart from the quality of the Carbon in the larger sections is greater to cope with the increased strain on the sections.

Just a little bit busy at the moment - always something for me to do :)
-
As you know I have the very first version sl-x, it's a superb pole & still in every day use. I use it for everything from ground to it's full height. If I'm right, this will be the third version of the sl-x so I reckon this will be one hell of a good pole!! Alex & Gardiners are proven in their field IMO & I for one have 100% confidence in their developement & final products! ;)
Slumpy- you're panicking, just ring or go to website at 9am! ;)

There is actually a lot less of a risk bringing out this range than when we brought out the first SL-X 25ft nearly 2 years ago. That was a new class of pole, which whilst I believed in it, I couldn't be sure others would like it.
-
i have one from the first batch and will be ordering a 35 slx tomorrow, will it be possible to order the new style clamps for my old pole and if so how much are they

Are you all warming up those dialing fingers for the 'off'...I heard there are only 5 poles left....so marks, get set.......I've set his number in speed-dial.
;D ;D ;D ;D

The scene at the Gardiner premises at 7 AM on Monday morning
-
I'm quite happy to use the website if only he would enable it. They need the card no etc after all.
Possibly there will be some delays, but i think we all understand that from previous launches.
I was thinking about ordering an extra brush with fans do they put these in for you or is it an after fit?
-
Me too. And sorted the fan jets, probably not being dispatched till wednesday.
-
Thats right. I bought a spare brush too, but forgot to ask for a Y piece on it.
I've been thinking of switching to these brush's for a while, but want to try them out before i order a load.

The brushes come complete with a Y piece as standard.

ordered the 18 ft slx, with flocked sl, this morning at 9 oclock, hope i like it.
-
ordered mine but wont be sent till wednesday as waiting on a part to complete poles
-
Ordered mine, 18ft and popped the G fit 12 inch on it. With another Dual mono brush.
Hopefully this and my 30ft SL-x will keep me going now for a couple of years.
Spent enough on poles now.
-
I thought they only went on sale this morning? How'd you get that so quick?
-
Hes winding us up, they havent got all the parts in the warehouse yet, there being sent either tomorrow or wednesday.
Chris
-
thats a good question i wouldnt mind answered
-
Welcome to the SL-X club guys - mine's luverly!
-
Okay, lets be sensible.
I have a question.
Alex.....this might be a stupid question, but is it possible to add lengths to these poles, so if you bought a 25 footer would it be possible to add another section (bought in addition) thus making it a 30 footer?
TIA
Yes, in the future it would be a simple matter of buying extra sections as needed and sliding them on. The only thing you might end up with is two insulated base sections, one above the other. We will have all replacement sections on the website in the next 3-4 weeks.
-
Just bought an 18ft slx this morning and i gotta say that after breaking it down(vat man getting his cut) then talking of the price of the brush(£30 odd quid ::) ) oh and free delivery, that the price of the pole is pretty blooming reasonable for what is it. I only hope after using a beast of a pole the last few years, that my man muscles don't turn into chickin wings ;D
-
You assume correctly :)
-
I was on waiting list, lady called this morning, i paid my dough, should be with me friday !!
Mr B
-
I was on the phone to them at 9.00,i paid my dough, should be with me Thursday ;D
-
Just got an email from brodex half price 26' hydra £95.
Aint that a coincidence. i bet big bro ain't the only one watching this launch. They have to wonder how he does it, they have some great full time salaried marketing people (i mean the big firms that make systems and poles), and big adevertising and exhibition budgets too. And heres Alex bootstraping his way to number one in the pole charts at home and abroad.
Some people are just born lucky.
-
Don't see much luck. I do see a clever man having the nerve to put his ideas into practice - well done Alex. Gardiners have left the competition in its wake by simply providing us with what we want instead of selling overweight outdated junk.
-
Agreed
-
Well, he is getting paid. ::)
So do alot of other suppliers but Gardners products and aftersales are excellent. I have a 30' SLX and have had two small problems so far. Gardners have sorted them to my complete satisfaction exactly when and how they said they would. I know it could be said that it is nothing special, just how it should be but it unfortunatley isn't how it is with some other suppliers. Confidence in the supplier when buying a high priced item is very important.
-
What marketing is that? I don't see Gardiners demonstration weekends or Gardiners special offer cut price poles or Gardiners buy one get one free. Just a website, the product sells itself.
-
The labels and logo's seem quite good, but like everything else that must be a talented family member because i can't see him parting with any money.
The brand is very strong because it does actually deliver on promises and i can't remember anyone on here being unhappy with a product. It comes down to being known liked and trusted (and in this case not spending any money on fancy ads or promos).
Technicaly the products are superior, and the price is always pitched under any competition.
I think he gets such an easy ride because a lot of the competition don't really care about their products so long as we buy them, or maybe some of the bigger people like craig have just taken their eye off the ball.
Imagine the kind of success he enjoys with us duplicated in every country in the world. A bit like James Dyson he'll be exporting to japan and china soon. This sort of thing drinks money though (a bit like one of us trying to jump to four vans before we've even got two sorted) and often requires hefty finance that can send you bust.
-
A proper pole will sell itself with no gimmicks or half sales nonesense etc. i.e. facelift & gardiners. Simple!
I've been telling you all this for ages! ;D
-
I ordered mine yesterday but please tell me that the hose still goes through the screw thread and not the pole,i don`t want any holes drilled in the pole on mine please.
-

Rest assured NWH, there is a nice metal screw thread at the end of the pole for the hose to go through, like we've always done.
-
Like normal i thought as much just checking lol,is there any chance me getting mine this week as i must have been 1 of the first on the list like 6 months ago list lol. ;D
-
If the others ever catch up on the technical development then the branding and advertising will become more important.
He's probably uncatchable now though, unless a barnes wallis or a frank whitle applies for a job at irony and by the time they do he will have no doubt moved on again.
Of course you can't trust suppliers (carbon pole manuf's) not to nick it and bring out a generic.

All that were ordered on Monday should go out tomorrow afternoon for next day delivery.
-
The amount of people that now have them is advertising enough, the pole is good but the brush especially the flocked is better and can be used on any pole.If that pole had a brick for a brush on the end the pole would be light years away from being what people think it is.
