Guy I've known for years is moving oop north. Wants to sell his shop-front business which is very local to me.
It's weekly and earns approx £100-£120 for a mornings work and it's very very concentrated.
I'm meeting him tomorrow and he's going to take me round and introduce me to his custys and explain that I'm taking over as of next week.
He wants £500 for the round which to me seems reasonable....
...yes/no?...any thoughts?
-
As long as you go round with him, and can ask questions to the customers. then I would say take it before someone else does.
he's only asking for 1 months takings off the round, he could quite easily get more for it.
-
snap his hand off you would pay over £2500 up here ;D
-
Yes, it's what I'm thinking....it's a bargain.

Ive always read your posts simon and you seem quite bright so I cant understand that youve posted this to ask as anyone would snatch it up lol ;D

Good comment. I ask because I've not done commercial before and have never bought biz.
I suppose I just needed a bit of reassurance. And this has been given...cheers guy :-*

I would say go for it too mate
good investment if you can get your money back in 4 or 5 weeks

Simon - you are wise to ask for advice on here because it may be too cheap and you wisely follow the guidance of "If it seems too good to be true then it probably is."
If you get introduced and accepted then you've got a good deal.
Good for you mate! Never be afraid to ask questions even if you feel daft for doing so.
-
Agree. If you know him it's probably okay.Who's bought the other bits?
-
its a good buy
if you know the guy, and you say you do
if he will introduce you to the customers, and he will
you have nothing much to lose
-
same as malc gold said

Bargin, i do a few shop fronts and it's easy money, i,ve also picked up loads of work off the people who work in the shops, wish i had more. [ i also get discount in most of them ]
-
Id buy it and drive from manchester for that lol
why you need to ask???
Isnt it common sense that if a round earns you 120 for a mornings work every week for 500 you will make your money back in 4/5 weeks and then be laughing all the way to the bank every week???
Come on pal .... :)

id look at the shops involved and make sure the shutters aint coming down on them .
if not then a good investment .
theres a lot of shops going under at the moment could these be heading that way .

Whats £500 to a man with your money Simon?
Seriously, sounds good to me. Espescially if it gets you off that ladder for a while.

Went round with him this lunchtime and was introduced to the shops (21 in all) and all's as he said except that no way is it a mornings work.
It starts with Starbucks at 7am (this is because after this the customers occupy the window seats...do ins here as well). I reckon he was about half way done when I met him at 12 o'clock so he probably finishes around 4ish. So a full day!
A lot of it is massively underpriced and some of the shops look like they might not be around this time next year (good observation Dave Shaw) but it's cheap and I can't see any way that I won't at the very worst not get my money back.
I've never done commercial before and reckon until I get the hang of it I'll struggle but I've taken the plunge and bought it (£600 not £500 ::))
