Title: Is it worth getting a backpack?.
Post by: rumple90 on July 19, 2009, 02:08:34 pm: Hi all i have an ionics van mounted system,i have never seen one of these backpacks,is it worth getting one for jobs that are difficult to get hoses round and how long do they work for before it goes flat.
Any help please guys.

I find a backpack has limited usefulness but when I do need it, it's invaluable.
I charge mine up periodically. It is only an occasional tool for me. Don't know how long they last in constant use though. It will probably vary depending which type you have. I may go a couple of weeks without using it at all.

An overnight charge lasts me all day.

I have the WCW backpack, it holds 16L of pure then its fill up time.

I think a backpack would have a place in every windowcleaners van.

I also have an Ionics system in my van & had same trouble like you.

I bought 3 backpacks for myself & my lads and must say they have been brilliant for what i needed them to do.

Only faults are i find the batterys just do not last long enough for the length of time i neeed them, but if your only going to use them for a couple of hours - then will be invaluable.

I have just bought an Ionics 35ltr trolley , execellent = Should have bought a trolley a long time ago, especially for moving from A to B.

Post by: s.w.c on July 19, 2009, 04:43:40 pm: not sure what backpacks you lot have for the batteries not lasting long, Ive got a shurflo backpack its 2 1/2 years old now i only ever have to charge it once a week, it gets used daily on several jobs, the battery is a 12v 7ah, at times if i use the pack pack solely for a day i still get three days use before i have to charge it.

I'm very surprised you get two houses from yours. I have a WCW backpack and I just manage to squeeze one house from it. It's very unusual for me to do a full house though as it's more likely to be used just for a couple of rear windows.
Did you mean two full houses or two houses tops only?

There cracking pieces of kit, but there is no way im carrying 16L of water on my back when i dont have too. Straps cam off mine after the first day and i now just carry it. Place it in the middle of the house and i can get to all the windows without moving it. Then same round the back. Much easier on the shoulders that way ;)

Superb piece of kit, carries 35litres, it saves me time and hassle and therefore pays for itself.
