I cleaned a nylon saxony pile carpet today using splitters and as usual the results were amazing, The family is 2 adults and 2 children under 13 and a black Labrador which roams the house. The carpet was pale blue and the soiling and body grease off the Lab was very obvious. Anyhoo, the carpet came up like new and the customer could not believe it but I noticed that when I was dumping the water out of the waste tank it was not very dirty and I could not work out why. I always save a jug full at the end of the clean for the customer to see and because it was out of the last bucket it was pretty dirty. However when I went to show her the dirty water about 15 minutes later the jug seemed to contain pretty clear water until I slowly tipped it up and found that the silt had separated and was a 1/4 inch deep in the bottom!! This would normally take ages to happen so it seems that soil does not suspend in splitters solution. has anyone else noticed this?

Very interesting observation. Never noticed this myself but I must look out for it.

Hi Guys,
You would expect this result because detergents have a water loving end and a water hating end which attaches itself to the dirt.
The water loving end keeps it suspended .
MS only have the wetting/shearing phosphates so the dirt will settle out.
Cheers,
Doug

Same principle on Charly pads, i assume, they do not look that soiled in use but the dirt that rinses out is :o :o :o
It just falls away with ease, same as when you rinse terry towels or queen bonnet mitt after using ms on upholstery.

Have to check bottom of waste tank then, could be a foot deep at end of week !!
