Title: how's things
Post by: captain j on July 15, 2009, 04:34:20 pm
Just wondering how things are going and if the recession is affecting anybody, I've only been operating 3 months and things seemed to have slowed up considerably but I don't know if it's the recession that's causing it or if it is just normal for a new start up. I'm doing all the same advertising and leaflet drops which did seem to be working well.

Thanks

Hi Captain,

You website looks good.

I think its difficult for all start ups especially in this climate. We are not out of the resession just yet.

Plus Oven cleaning possibly might not be high on residential customers that have been effected by the global melt down. They will want to save money and use Mr muscle oven cleaner.

On the other hand you have the people that are not effected at all and wont do it themselves.

We do not specialise in oven cleaning but have done several 100s. We have noticed and have kept record of our calls and yes thing do go slower this time of year. We put it down to holidays. In the next few months things will pick up and by November things will slow down for Christmas. But then February hits things go mad for a while. For us anyways. Seems to be the pattern.

slight change of subject, where do you purchase your dip tanks from..?

best of luck

Dave

Hi Dave
The tank was purchased as part of the training package but I am considering having some made myself and offering them for sale as there does seem to be a market for them and most of them purchased through the training courses are in excess of £600 mine was nearly £650. I reckon I could get these made and deliver them myself along with training on howto use them much ceaper then this.

Thanks Jason

Hi

Improvise, adapt & overcome!

What cleaning do you do, what other cleaning will you do, what other services can you offer to your clients and new clients, how can you get new clients, what cheap advertising can you do, what can you do that is pro-active for your business?

I have recently signwritten the van, hope it may get some work and am doing a full back page in my free ad paper (1st time, I'm nervous ;))

I have invested quite a lot into my business these last few months, it may all be for nothing but here's hoping?

Regards

Hi Martin
Hope things work out well with the advertising.

At the moment I only offer oven cleaning but I would like to diversify into other areas but I don't want to run before I could walk so the original idea was to try and get the oven cleaning up and running so it could be self sufficient and then employ someone to do the oven cleaning whilst I move into another area and do the same and then diversify more. I want to do the cleaning myself before employing someone so I know the basics and I would never ask someone to do something I'm not prepared to do myself. My problem now is the funds to buy equipment to diversify as most of it has been spent on the van sign writing, local press advertising and local mags and also leaflets- everything seemed to be going fine for teh last 3 weeks but now nothing - hence me asking if anyone else has seen the same.

Thanks Jason
