Title: What is the best way to collect payment?
Post by: mike1986 on July 13, 2009, 07:03:39 pm
Does any1 have any good ideas for collecting payment? i usually collect a few times a week and its a real pain. i have asked customers to send cheques, and some do, but most either 4get or cant b bothered. ive heared of some window cleaners using some kind of bar code sysem, where they scan a barcode which is placed inside the customers window, then the money is taken from there acount 2 weeks later. does any1 use this method?  :)

I usually go out thursday/friday evening just for an hour or so, if they are not in I leave them a stamped addressed envelope to send a cheque or they can pay by standing order or paypal.

Its easy mate,

Register your email with paypal,

Link it to your business account,

Then put details on your windows cleaned today tickets,

ie "why not pay online with paypal by sending your payment to deantaberner@aol.com"

easy just follow the guides, however i have set it up only got one payer on it. oh and you are charged for it too.

Most of my peeps pay via bank transfer directly into my business account.

Dean I get charged a percentage for having money paid to my paypal account, just like the stamped addressed envelopes, if you charge 50p more per customer it pays for most of those charges and expenses.

I use internet banking now and 50% of my customers pay this way... most pay the same day, or the day after this way...

its the best move i have made... and the rest post cheques/or at the time of clean, cash at the door.

The other thing i do is leave them a slip...."your windows have been cleaned today" offering internet banking, with all my details, and an addressed envelope..(not stamped),....

and on the bottom of the slip i have recently added.. Please pay this within 3 days.what a response....its instant now.

Brilliant. !

Well 50% of my customers pay online... so at least....half of my customers are using the internet...and to be honest i dont know anyone who does not have access to the internet...

Q. How do i know who has paid.?

i ask them to put a reference of house number and postcode in the comments line,... that , then comes up on my online statement...

I then copy and paste that into the George programme, press search and it finds them....

then i tick them off as paid.
