Hi all,
Sometime next year i may be moving some distance from where i am now. Im looking at the different options of 1 to travel and 2 renting my entire round out.
Its going to be around £2000 a month with people paying on the day / leaving money / bank transfers. I'll have sorted out all the crap and have a good round that im looking at taking 3 & 1/2 to 4 days per week. Customers will be 4 or 8 weekly.
Im not going to sell up as my wife and i have put alot into this and to give it up for pennys would see all our hard work down the pan. I want a steady cut from what we have done if i decide to rent it out. Im not greedy, just want a fair price.
What would you expect % wise i could ask for ?
What terms would you apply if it was you renting out ?
How would i find someone to trust ?
I dont want to jump into things or leave it till the last moment and end up getting nothing from it or end up loosing it to some c**t who fancys his chances.
Like i said its just thoughts at the moment, but could quite possibly happen.

done this a few times with different variations - not going to spend an age going through all the pros and cons.
in the end they will begrudge paying you a 'tax' on their hard work and are more likely to let customers leave thus the round will be 'de-valued'.
just in my experience the best answer is to sell - you never get back what you have truly put in.
for 2K get someone interested with 2 or 3 repayment options.

i wouldnt rent out in a years time you could have lost a lot of customers and goodwill around here you would be able to sell for minium 5x if work is in compact batches

If i was to sell would it be in 1 go or split up be best ?

if you sold it all you would need a new starter or big company,if you spilt it people with not enough work would be interested,but i would advertise the spilts altogether as one person might take 2 or more ;D

Thought i would start another one for me as the 'other' renting thread seemed to be going down the pan.
Was hoping to rent it out and get something regular out of it. I suppose if an offer i couldnt refuse came into play that would be different.
Thing is i run my business different to most in my area from what i hear from customers. Always smiling, happy and helpful, call / txt the night before .... i just dont like the idea of handing it over to someone who isnt going to treat it the way i would. But i suppose its different when you build a business from scratch to just purchasing one.

Renting:-
You get 10/15% - so on 2K a month the "rentee" hands over £200/300.
Or you set a fixed amount of £250 so that whether he works 1.5K or 2.5K you still get £250
But - unless you really know and trust each other then probs will arise after 3/6/12 mths when as mentioned above matey boy gets fed up of handing over dosh and excuses start to fly and what are you going to do? He has the goodwill of the custies, you can't take it back (as you live too far away), legal action is gonna cost more than you could ever get.
So sell it - and again if you don't know trust each other then a "bird in the hand is worth two in the bush!" (5k now is better then £2K/£2K/£2k over a year)

Just looked at the original post and you mention travelling as a possibility. Right - here's the thing ...
Get the best 1K of your round and keep it and travel to do it one day a week over the month.
Sell the other 1K. Build up in your new locale!
Sorted! my fee is, as usual, one pint of Bitter! ;D

I've considered renting out too, but wouldn't touch it with a bargepole now after a friend's and other people's horror stories. At the end of the day, you get out of window cleaning what you put into it and that's it. For instance if you stopped working the round and just left it, if you tried to start again after say a year it'd be all gone forever! Once you delegate a round to someone else, it wouldn't be the same as you had when you were working it, ever again!(losses, devaluation etc)
That's what I'd be worried about!
